Poor mattsanity earned himself a suspension for being offensively indifferent and completely off-topic in the aftermath of yet another massacre with his ongoing preachery about how all men are evil. Being the good (or should I say evil? He is a man and therefor evil, right?) Christian soldier that he is, he made an alt to take me to task for being angry (and perhaps even evil). To be fair, I did indicate that his behavior would likely result in having his teeth lodged in his airway if he'd had the gall to prove his thesis to the more recently bereaved.

He's just trying to spread the gospel and I'm unjustly persecuting him for doing so. I feel so horrible right now. I did lose control of my feelings and compelled Lira to suspend him with my special psychic powers (there's no way Lira may have derived Matt's behavior was offensive on his own, right?). Poor, poor Matt. In externalizing responsibility for your own behavior you cultivate the discomfort you feel for being persecuted. And Lord knows, you're among the most persecuted people, here. I would support a banning purely for fucking with the mods... but you know, that I suspect might not be in my best interests long term.

That said however the long post about how men are evil is just stupid and deserves no place on this forum so suspension is totally justified. Making a post about how everyone needs him and he'll never use another forum again makes it even worse. No one cares, by attempting to claim we care you make yourself look like even more of a douchebag. I'm gonna go ahead and say that the decision to suspend him was probably highly popular.

My issue isn't with me getting suspended, it's with whoever decided to do it was obviously annoyed with me for a very long time and they decided to find some dumb excuse to do it. They can add a section to the forum rules that says "we ban people for being annoying" and then they can do what they want.

At least be upfront about why you're doing it.

I sent him an explanation right away explaining why I had suspended him.

Edit: As for banning people for their stupidity, idiocy, or obnoxiousness, I believe most mods agree I tend to be very lenient, having always refused to suspend users for these reasons.

Matt was annoying, yes. Matt was incredibly dull, right. But I didn't ban him for either reason.

If swamper wants to randomly start banning people he can do that... but it's not like he just suddenly banned 1/3 of the users. Banning the troublesome 5% occasionally for no real reason and just waiting on the sides is shifty as hell.

This isn't an invite only or an extremely private forum and never has been, making it become that way slowly is rather strange.

Or because, as I pointed out earlier, you actually bought Matt's defence despite the fact it had nothing to do with his suspension.

Have a look at how the twcenter forum bureacracy works, now obviously we wouldn't want a "no insults model" of moderation, but we could have all warnings be public if the person who is warned chooses to make them so.
