DJ Shadow kicked off the decks at Mansion in Miami because his music is 'too confusing'. This is on the heels of Dennis Ferrer having his set cut off for not being 'commercial enough'.

Yeah there is a utoob vid of him saying that he's getting kicked off cause his music is "too futuristic"
I give any DJ respect (regardless of genre) that plays what he plays and not what the club wants him to play.
It shows integrity and not bending over, stepping out of their own persona, cause somebody is shaking $$ in front of his face.
ive seen the video and read about it a lil
iam still curious on what the dj who replaced him was playing?
DJ Shadow is a great DJ, too. Shame on this fucking club.

Sad to see this still happens. I almost got kicked out of the decks once because i was playing too "hard" (meaning everybody was dancing)
Here's another article about this

its totally mansion's fault, they should know exactly the type of set to expect from the dj's they book, so f*ck them for being so ignorant
I actually like what The Scumfrog said on his FB:

| Very refreshing topic-change to wake up this morning and see my newsfeed bitching at club Mansion in Miami for kicking DJ Shadow off the decks during the weekend. Although I am not sure why so many people take the side of DJ Shadow? Let me try to say it like this: If you decide to play in hell because of their slightly higher DJ fees, don't be surprised to get burned in the process. And don't tell me that DJ Shadow didn't know Mansion is hell. After the Dennis Ferrer incident, every experimental, left-field, underground DJ knows that they take the risk to get booted by playing there. Most importantly, it is an insult to your own fans to subject THEM to this hell by taking a booking in a club where they pay lots of money to (not) hear you. Don't feel sorry for DJ Shadow. He is either a blatantly greedy DJ who finds a slightly higher DJ fee more important than catering to his fans, or he is hungry for publicity, knowing that he gets a nice media spotlight if he deliberately makes himself get kicked off. Either way, don't blame Mansion for being douchebags. We all know they are, every booking agent knows they are, and no artist is FORCED to perform there. It is time for DJs to take responsibility for the venues they pick. |
i rolled up to mansion and they asked me to not wait in line, i got the red rope treatment

Just got this email....
DJ Shadow Receives A Public Apology
From Mansion Nightclub Miami, FL
(Miami, FL Dec. 21st, 2012) - This past Friday, December 14, DJ Shadow was asked to step down from the decks at Mansion Nightclub during the middle of his set. According to reports, the promoter said his set was "Too Futuristic". Fans were not shy of voicing their dismay towards the club, shocked that the promoter would ask the legend to stop playing.
Today, Mansion Nightclub has issued a public apology:
"We offer our most sincere apologies to DJ Shadow and his fans for his set being cut short at Mansion this past weekend. This error should not have happened and will not happen again, especially as we pride ourselves on creating an environment that cultivates and respects innovators such as DJ Shadow. We have learned a lot from this error and made changes within our organization to ensure that Mansions vision, and the vision of our guests, will never be compromised again." -Mansion Nightclub, Miami
Miami New Times also reported this morning: http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/cros...ment.php?page=2
The Miami stop was one of the last dates during his sold out All Basses Covered Tour which saw DJ Shadow play in Madison, Chicago, Boston, Detroit, New York, New Orleans, and more in support of his current releases, Reconstructed: The Best Of DJ Shadow and Reconstructed: The Definitive DJ Shadow on Universal Music Enterprises.
DJ Shadow plays one more show before the end of the year on December 29 at Fort Mason Center for Wintersalt in San Francisco.
Sooo someone got canned for that.
And it looks like you heard right Euphoria.
