Trance around the world retired and replaced by... trance around the world?
I long since stopped listening to this garbage show, but I saw an annoucement that the last ever TATW was in Nov, then they started a new show called group therapy radio.
I havent heard the new show but according to what I was reading, the format is identical.
WTF A&B?
you expected something radically different? it's just a mild re-branding, taking the "trance" out of the equation.
no i didnt expect any difference, but I guess the taking the trance out of the equation makes sense.
Yea, I was perplexed as well for the longest time when I heard this announcement. Removing trance from the name sure seems to explain it...
A&B suck
like hard.
Yes but great marketing and an army of fanboys.
Now they can play those annoying electro shit as much as they want like they did in TATW 450
MAYBE THEY'LL HAVE ANOTHER CONTEST WHERE A DEVOTED LISTENER CAN BOARD A BALLOON AND FAG AROUND FOR A WHILE WITH SOME PORTABLE PLUR SETUP AND A DRUGGED OUT WENCH WAILING ABOUT ON TOP OF CHORD STABS
I just remembered, I used to be hardcore into TATW around 4 years ago
Although honestly, they had some pretty nice stuff on anjunadeep around that time.
They obviously don't like living under the "trance" label, and rightly so, as they don't even play trance for the most part. I personally couldn't care less, never really liked TATW.

Hahaahahahaha.
I like A&B.
They've had guest mixes from Guy J and Zabs on the new show, too. I like where it's going.

Above & Beyond accidentally played a good track in their tatws a few years ago when i dared to listen to a track that claimed to be tatw supported, never downloaded a show, the most boring uplifting could be found there.

Yea the show itself is repetitive because the audience always wants the same stuff played, which is frustrating. The guestmixes of Group Therapy have been a lot more interesting; Guy J's was great. Highly unlikely he'd be invited to play on a show called Trance Around The World but I'll take the name change to get more of those kinds of guestmixes in.

It's obvious A&B have very diverse taste in music, and actually seem to want to push trance forward in a variety of ways (from the electro-tinged stuff to the Anjundeep stuff), and they seem better at balancing their tastes with the tastes of their listeners than, say, Armin. Obviously it's still "mainstream" trance, but I seem to find more refreshingly creative stuff on Anjuna than most other big labels. |
Well Spoken...
hopefully armin and the rest of the clowns abandons labeling their stuff trance and moves on. this is the only way real trance makes a comeback. once no one is putting out garbage cheesy trance records more underground techno and house producers will start incorporating trance type sounds into their songs, they have already started actually, in addition to the great trance coming out already by j00f, cosmithex, etc. and sooner or later it will comeback in a proper way and more akin to its initial german roots than the dutch sound that just killed the artistry out of it.
^somehow I don't see that ever happening.
