Advice towards equiment needed

HEy everyone, I need some advice. My birthday is today and I'm trying to get my parents to get me some tables and a mixer for my present. However, as my parents aren't rich bastards they have told me to find some good prices.

Now, being that these will be my very first set of decks, they definatly don't have to be Technics or anything, but I do want some Direct Drive tables with enough torque to handle some hiphop styles and a mixer with the features to accomidate a Trance style, as both genres will be played on them.

I have my head phones, and I have decent speakers, I just need the actual set up, and I have no clue what brands and models would do me best.

I'm looking for tables under 150 each (preferably as far under as possible) and a mixer under 200 (again, as far under as possible)

Can any of you help me out? If I find cheap enough decks for my 'rent's wallets, I may get them as soon as this week, so ya'll help me out! Thanks!

well.. sorry, i think you are out of luck. there just isn't anything you can get for under $150 that is worth getting as a turntable.

i guess your total budget is $500? I suggest you get them to buy you a good mixer that will LAST you, and not some cheap piece of crap.

Here's a good one, well known for it's durability and used by many top hip hop DJs, it's $399

or if you wanna go cheaper, 2 band EQ, but it will do the job, for only $119

this last one has a PCV crossfader, which lasts forever and sounds really nice. i have a vestax PCV275 and i love it.

I am partial to vestax, they seem to be well priced, reliable mixers. but, you could go with gemini, numark, behringer etc if you wanted.

then with the rest of the money, get another sound card for your computer, and get some DJ software for your computer(there are ways of getting these without paying for them ), and hook it into the mixer.

don't get turntables until you can afford good ones. I say this because, either you will like DJing, and then need to sell them to upgrade, or you will hate DJing, and need to sell them to get your money back. either way, it's gonna be hard to sell shitty tables, and they will probably end up just being a waste of money.

this is the cheapest table i would even THINK of buying

gemini pt2100 and it's $250

I hope i helped you out a little. don't get too disheartened at the thought of the prices of this stuff.

trust me, save your money and get technics, they are worth it.

You can get a Numark DJ3001X mixer and a Stanton STR8-80 turntable and then buy another deck yourself. With that budget you can't do much better than that.

Hello! wait a minute... got the answer right here

Allright, I know I'm gonna get nailed for this.

if u want an easy set up.. go with the Numark DJ-in-a-box Battlepack

it has two TT-1625 directdrive turnies and a DM1001(or mebbe a 1002) mixer... also has cheesy headphones

usually around $370.00 in the stores... check on ebay too

They say that the tt's suck, but those are perfect for learning, and don't let anyone tell ya otherwise.

Besides, if u can learn on crap, u can spin on anything!

Good Luck to u!

Well, my birthday passed with no turntables being added to my apartment. Yes, tis sad. But Thanks for the info. I wish I could afford some 1200's and a nice mixer, but no-can-do. I'll probally wait till Christmas, when I get enough money. Either that or find a way to get decks without paying for them, which doesn't appear to be all that easy, lol.

Thanks everyone!
