Psyshell - 4am in Healesville [Forest Darkpsy for Forest Elves]

This is my first set in ages, so bear with me. I've spent quite a few times (I think I'm up to 7) redoing this, but this isn't necassarily the final one. It might be a bit short and ofcourse I'm very inexperienced with transitions and flow, but hopefully I'll improve over time. Hopefully it's worth it just because this music style is very rare to find in dj promotion.

Anyway, what do you guys think?

So, realistically speaking, what do you expect out of starting this new thread when you've deleted the old one with (or because of) its rather extensive replies?

I like this mix even less after seeing it posted a second time.

Yet you made it a point to request that I not listen in the original post, then when Stu requested that I provided feedback and constructive criticism, you condescendingly disregard my comments on the track selection as "not knowing forest psy", which is complete fucking garbage considering I've heard Magadansky play forest psy much more successfully than you. I am interested in hearing magdansky's dj set. I'm sure he is much better at forest psy than me. I did mention that I hadn't done any sets in 3 years right? Not going to comment on my attitude too much but suffice to say when I have techno heads telling me darkpsy doesn't exist in the other thread then I think I need a stubborn attitude.

I actually don't really have a problem with you or your posts, it's more practically everyone else who posted there.

I mean if we disagree over what's full on/twilight/forest/dark then fair enough, they're pretty vague and esoteric subgenres, ofcourse there's going to be a hard to define difference. I still stand by that I think I understand it better than you do. I mean lets put it this way, should I either a. look like an idiot to IRL experienced psytrance djs... or b. look like an idiot or here or c. call artists different things in different places. I'm not gutless enough to do c. so instead I'm doing b. It is imo 2/3 or so forest psy (some tracks are borderline forest or not definitely), but for sure the other mix you posted that you were claiming was dark was actually some kind've twilight/dark full on (and neither are darkpsy).

I'm sorry for being stubborn but I'm not going to change my mind on what ^* subgenres mean simply because you said so, you're going to need to provide proper evidence to support your case for me to do something like that. I won't post in your threads that you've labelled them the wrong genre, because I think that's probably annoying, but if we're in this thread then I'm going to call things according to my terminology(you can still call it according to yours if you want). I mean seriously, you see how this thread title has a stupid genre name or no genre name? Why do you think I did that? So I wouldn't get in genre arguments with idiots (the guy that said darkpsy doesn't exist definitely qualifies, you simply have a difference of opinion).

Why does that even matter? Maybe he knows what it means, it doesn't mean you do. Honestly the difference between darkpsy and forest darkpsy is like the smallest thing people could argue about ever. The difference between tech house and techno is 10x more defined as a comparison. Can we either not care or agree to disagree please?

Also, part of why this came up is I said mixing forest psy is different to mixing regular darkpsy. Regardless of whether this is forest psy or not, can we agree that darkpsy is varied and one particular substyle of darkpsy (whether or not it has a name, or regardless of what it's called) may be harder and or different to another? Maybe mixing the faster stuff is slightly different to the slower stuff for instance. Now sure, I'm sure magdansky is a better dj than me, but seriously like I give a shit, I just started jeez. This is a net forum where we're posting mixes, not me and him competing for gigs.

You making a big deal about the fact that I said that Radioactive Sound had a "hypnotic foresty like sound" as being equivalent to me saying that it is "pure forest psy" is completely absurd and not at all accurate. You are making a misrepresentation of my original comments. Your constant and stubborn way of clarifying small inane subtleties in a relatively obscure subgenre of psytrance and your insistence of being judgemental to listeners who are providing constructive criticism as not being knowledgeable enough to comment on a mix in which you are demanding feedback is a joke and you should be fucking ashamed of yourself.

The only person who's provided any real criticism is you, and another person has basically just said they liked it. The rest of the comments were either "I don't like the style" or just total bullshit.

I just want to post a mix, get people who do or don't like it plus a few areas to improve on(no matter how negatively or positively they're stated). "you named the genre wrong" most certainly does not fucking count. If I misinterpreted your comments I honestly don't give a shit, I don't even wish to discuss the genre or what it is or isn't, it's a completely pointless topic that's far more deserving of a thread in music discussion. Techno heads being "derrr all the tracks suck" is just stupid.

I'm not a technohead, in fact I think much of today's techno output is equally bland and unsatisfying.
I didn't say all of the tracks were bad and I also didn't say anything about the actual existence of the term darkpsy. I'm sure it exists in some peoples heads, I just said it was nonsense and I don't care much for it.

All these implications stem from you being evasive and not wanting to deal with criticism, shaking it all off by means of ad hominems.
I don't dislike you and I don't want to insult you for the sake of it, although I don't care much for packing my words in flowers just to avoid offending someone on an internet forum. It's up to you to react maturely to keep it from escalating, which you repeatedly fail at.

I'd just like to see you reflect on your music choice as we all have to do, that way you can grow so that you'll be able to submit something really worth listening to in the future. I listen to these mixes because I want to hear good music, especially in areas and genres I don't usually look for myself.
If you don't want to then that's that, but you can't blame me for trying.
