Skrillex trying his hand at the Burial style...

...I wish I was making this up. I stumbled on a link to this and posted it on FB where Adam said I should post it up here so here we go... it's... not a very good imitation, but hey at least it's a change of pace from another brostep frog-in-a-blender track.

the sound placement in this is so weird

Speaking of Skrillex...

I wonder what his fans think about it

WHERES THE DROP YO

Posted by Redd on Jan-08-2013 04:07:

Sounds more like Desolate than Burial

Posted by Rodri Santos on Jan-08-2013 15:00:

shit this is not burialesque at all

Posted by enydo on Jan-08-2013 16:34:

The sound design screams, "I'm trying to sound like Burial, but I'm actually using a sequencer".

Posted by Seandroid on Jan-08-2013 17:21:

I hardly think he's trying to imitate burial as much as he's just not trying to make aggressive dubstep. This sounds more like Benga or Skream than Burial and only by a little bit. I mean it's not the best track in the world but he gave it away for free and with some refinement I think he could be great at it.

No way man. This is so far below even the most average burialstep/future garage clones that have popped in the last few years.

Well it's also his first attempt. I mean even if you hate the guys music you have to admit he is a good sound designer. I think he knows that too because he is giving it away

Posted by Woony on Jan-08-2013 18:31:

The production seems fine but conceptually it's total shit. You need subtlety to make ambient-ish music and he just doesn't have it.

MAYBE IF HE ADDS MORE TURNTABLE STATIC

Because only Burial makes dubstep without "yois?" It sounds more like plenty of other older dubstep artists.

Posted by srussell0018 on Jan-08-2013 21:14:

Dude have you even HEARD the analog static on Burial tracks. It's fucking ART.

Yeah, older dubstep artists that also sound like Burial. Give me some examples of these older dubstep artists. I have no problem with this track, I actually don't dislike it, it's just boring as fuck and completely contrived.

russell you need some new material. Good luck with that.

Posted by srussell0018 on Jan-08-2013 21:33:

He already gave you two examples earlier in the thread. Do they not teach you how to read at Georgia Tech?

Posted by enydo on Jan-08-2013 21:35:

You are such a try-hard, you know that right?

Benga and Skream? That's what he thinks this sounds like?

Posted by srussell0018 on Jan-08-2013 21:37:

Apparently. You asked him to post examples when he already had.

Somebody should change the genre of Burial's music to COOLstep. Because you have to be so fucking COOL to like it. It brings me back to the days where I listened to my EDM on my phonograph.

Are you not a fan of Burial's music, SRUSSELL? Please, tell us your opinion on the subject at great length.
