Any TAs into martial arts?
Usually I'm pretty quiet about it, as I try to progress in my understanding for obvious reasons. I'm just wondering any TAs here have taken any self defence or better yet, still doing it.
i recently studied brazilian jiu-jitsui...found out that the was one of the most physical styles out of a bunch of different styles i have studied over the years..i stopped taking classes a few months ago because it was physically to much on my body..but im definately going back and i recommend anyone wanting to learn to try some form of jiu-jitsui..
no not my cup of tea!!!! lol
I've taken some form of Kung Fu when I was younger. Don't remembe anything. Then as a teenager I took, Tae Kwon Do (yellow) and Ishin-ryu Karate (green). Didn't like the styles... so I found ninjutsu afew year ago. I recently obtained my black belt and my real learning has just begun.
Took judo when young... didn't really like it
Then karate, but my parents didn't quite like the idea (and I was 8), then I had to leave
A bit after Tae Kwon Do, which is mint (I'm a yellow belt yet because I had to stop when I entered university)
Nowadays, I'm taking ninjutsu, which is mint too (though I still miss Tae Kwon Do). It's all about my schedule
Anyway, I'm taking ninjutsu on Saturdays and I'll probably take Kendo on Sundays...
Hello.
I took Tae Kwon Do for a year and got upto a high red belt. (yes one step b4 black) I stopped for no reason. Just got bored I guess. My lastest venture is Thai Boxing. For those that dont know what it is, you should study up, and for those that do know......I loved it when my instructor handed me a coke bottle and said roll this up and down the front of your legs........ just to break all the nerve endings...
So yea it is mighty intense... but fun as hell
Krav Maga ! 3 years Now . Yeah dont fuck

I train at Bujinkan Atlanta Dojo. Founded by Bud Malmstrom (10th degree). I use to take lessons in NYC as well, in NY Budo.

I dread to think it'll take me about 4-6 years to get my black belt. I'm only on 8th kyu
3 solid years of going as often as I can. Usually 3 - 4 times a week. Remember in the first class they teach you how to roll? After 3 years, you can roll like a champ.
I THINK THE BEST COMBINATION IS GRAPLING(JIU-JITSU), SOME WRESTLING, KICK BOXING WITH A LITTLE BIT OF JUDO SO YOU CAN THROW PEOPLE.
Does canadian hockey fighting count =-P
Yes, it's a sub-style of streetfighting. Cousin to barfighting.

the art to be a militant
I was in wrestling for 2 years, yea learned a lot of stuff their, not really figthing but as far as throwing goes, and ground work it helps a lot in a fight, ive been wanting to do something different....like judo hehe
Learned Karate when younger but got bored. Then I found Aikido but had to stop practicing after 2 years cuz my knees are all messed up and need a surgery (they wont bend like they are supposed to
) but I think that starting from January '03 I'll start with Aikido lessons again ... or Capoeira ... dont know yet.
Technically the first and original ninja thread
Few TAs among us are truely invisible assassins
for the past 2 months ive been doing Kung Fu, and ive loved every sec of it.. Its really tough. and theres soooo much to learn. i want to carry it on to as far as i can get.
our instructor is cool, he was trained by the monks in china in the sholin temple. And he's a great guy.
Tang Soo Do for 3 years.
I tried Shotokan for about 6 months when I was seven, and when I got to uni I went to one Jeet Kune Do lesson. I know Bruce Lee (the ultimate ninja!!) developed that style but the instructor was so up himself and crap that I never went back.
My instructor for Tang Soo Do was a full beast. Not only was he a Master (**official rank**), but he could actually teach it as well, which doesnt seem to be the case all too often. I got some pics as well, i'll post 'em soon(ish).
Tang Soo!!
My sisters been takin Kung fu for years and im so supprised that i can still kick her ass. ( like in a play fighting kind of way) she has gotten a bit better with ber footing and weight managment but i still own her any one know y ? i havent taken any martial arts other than wrestling in highschool and shes had liek 4 years training.
