Festivals in Croatia
Hi all,
I'm thinking about hitting up one of the festivals in Croatia with a few friends. I've been looking at their websites, at RA, at their lineups... they all seem to be focussing heavily on the English crowd. Since Croatia doesn't have its own section here on TA, I figured I might as well ask here.
So: which festival would you recommend, and why? Also, if you could provide me some info on which crowds these festivals attract (nationalities, age, gender, etc.), that'd be highly appreciated.
Hideout Festival, Pag. July 1st - July 6th
The Garden Festival, Tisno. July 3rd - July 10th
Electric Elephant, Tisno. July 11th - July 15th
Thanks!
Hideout is run by the Warehouse Project, you'll find bigger names play like Sven Vath, and supposed to be a cool site. Its very UK based crowd and quite young too compared to the other two you've mentioned.
I've been to Garden Festival twice albeit at its former site in Petrcane, which was next to a hotel and I think they'd had enough of the noise. The new site is only down the road and supposed to be equally as good. Its only a small festival, very friendly, chilled out. People tend to go back each year and its a really good vibe. Age tends to be people in late 20's up to 50. Music is deep house, funk, disco with sprinklings of techier and tougher stuff. Usually gets a few good live acts too and the boat parties are top drawer.
Electric Elephant is very similar to Garden Festival, same site but with a slightly tougher lineup, the likes of Weatherall and Robertson play. Its a kind of Bugged Out lineup I guess but also plenty of downtempo stuff. I havent been but the crowd is more mixed, young and old from what friends have told me.
All 3 are very much UK & Ireland based but you do get other Europeans at them and as I said very friendly crowd at Garden.
Theres also one or two other festivals happening in Croatia this summer and Carl Cox is playing at one of them but cant remember the name. Rest of the lineup is quite commercial I think though so doubt it attracts a good crowd.
Croatia is beautiful, there's a National Park we went to which is a couple of hrs away, stunning green lakes and waterfalls.
Thanks for the info!
I'm all for the deephouse, funk and disco! I like the age too. I'm 27 myself and will be traveling with a 30, 28 and 26 year old. I still enjoy watching twenty year old girls prance around but older people tend to be more laidback, overall.. I dunno. And one question I have to ask (I know, I'm sorry)... what's the guy/girl ratio? I'm all for the music and atmosphere, but still, a few girls to glance at would be nice
The other two festivals I think you meant (I just looked them up) are SunceBeat and Dimension. Especially Dimension's lineup is crazy: http://www.dimensionsfestival.com/2013-line-up/ Who knows, I might end up in Croatia twice this year
Found these two vids of Garden Festival and read some more reviews on their site.. wow, just wow. I'm inclined to go for this one.

Wow that one in Pula, the Dimension Festival looks amazing. I reckon that will have a lot more Europeans and quite a bit of techno there too.
Male Female ratio at Garden Festival was pretty even 50/50 the two years I was there, so you'll have plenty to stare at! If you like a chilled out vibe and good music then you cant go wrong with Garden Festival.
Make sure you book your boat parties well in advance though because they sell out quite early and they are probably the best part of it all!
