Juni on Laurier is supposed to be one of the best.

Jun I is supposedly the best sushi in Montreal, but its fairly expensive.

Sho-Dan and Mikado are both very good, but I personnally think Sho-Dan is better.

There's supposed to be another really good placeo n Laurier but the name escapes me

Very good sushi is usually very expensive, even in Japan.

Juni is pretty pricey but indeed quite good. New(ish) place a few doors down called Ryu is supposed to also be quite good.

Not for you but for the locals looking to try some place new for lunch: Furusato; super cheap, Japanese owned and run (none of this deep fried w/ spicy may BS), super shitty dingy basement, has a depressed salary man reading a 3-day old Asahi Shimbun at the counter kind of vibe... very legit, not a place for a date though

Otherwise apparently Park has a pretty unique and awesome menu. I'm finally trying it later this month

It's Tri Express. Pretty good too but Juni is better imo

all the best sushi restaurants have closed.

Kaizen, Treehouse.. the only place that comes close at the moment is Japon but even that got terrible.

Maiko on Bernard (in Outremont) and Kaizen are still, IMHO, the best ones in Montreal.

ryu on laurier is great too. at ginger, we now have 3 ex-ryu kitchen staff, it's kinda funny. talented guys...

Yes, Tri Express is very good and not very expensive

tri never disapointed once and its not that expensive for sushi that is

So last friday I tried to hit up Kazu, it was closed then tried Tri Express it was full ended up at Ginger and my god was it bad the sushis only tasted rice and soya, I tried the chicken teriyaki too but it tasted like something out of a microwave, safe to way I was extremely disappointed, For a 120$ I could've at twice at either Kazu or Tri Express which IMO are amazing Japanese spots.

sorry to hear about your bad experience tazzjayz i can safely say that nothing comes out of a microwave at ginger lol that's for sure...i worked last friday, i was bartending. was your server a guy or a girl? i sincerely hope you expressed your thoughts to your server, because we want feedback...we're changing our menu slowly so we need to hear what people think.

no, alan does not work at ginger.
