Ableton cue/preview volume issue

I noticed that when I preview a sample from the Library, with the cue volume set to 0db (blue headphone knob,) the sample actually plays what seems to be -6dB quieter, than the same sample played through Simpler set to 0dB. (Simpler is set to 0dB by leaving velocity at 0% and then increasing the default volume from -12 to 0dB.)

Anyone know why that might be? It seems the cue volume plays at -6dB lower than the 0dB it should be set to by default. Anyone else experience this?

dunno, probably so you dont clip the output when previewing?
you can set the preview volume to +6db anyway if you want
