Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg at Footwork last year was amazing. If you went early you would've had an amazing night.

How? Not waiting in a long line doesn't change the experience of being in a club that has too many people in it.

I would disagree. Line-ups to get into a club in the winter especially can be pretty annoying. I just feel coming late to Footwork on a busy night is not a good idea. Get there early, get into the mood, mingle around, and pick your hang-out spot on the dance-floor for the night. More often than not it works for me. But then again you end up spending more money if you're buying drinks in the club.

Footwork has a great sound system. I don't know what you're talking about.

Posted by Toronto Fan on Feb-05-2013 14:59:

Have you been to Berghain or Stereo? Those are good sound systems. Footwork has a horrible sound system and does no justice to the artists that play there. They have low end speakers that miss so much range and bass bins that just make noise with no crispness. Its just low budget and an insult to people who appreciate good sound and good music.

He's been to both and while I respect Graham's opinion, I think their sound does need work. I don't consider myself an audiophile in the slightest but every time I go there, there's far too much bass.

Footwork's sound is not as good as Berghain's or Stereo's, but it is far from horrible. When comparing to other Toronto venues, I can't think of any sound system that is better as a matter of fact.

I did hear Black Box Theatre has put in a Funktion One, which may make me rethink that statement.

I don't mind Moskito's sound system. I would rate it better than Footwork's.

same. it sounded great when I was there for c+c. I would rate cz's sound well above fw as well.

So it looks like others agree the FW does not have a great system and in fact other clubs have a better system. Which is what my original point was. I just want to hear what will be a great set by Beyer on an amazing system to fully enjoy the night. FW cannot offer that and its very disappointing that thats the case.

You make it sound as if FW is that bad that you have a miserable time in there. You really shouldn't go then.

Personally my Adam Beyer night at FW last year was easily one of the best nights of the year for me.

There's a lot of things that make a good clubbing experience for me. I do agree footwork lacks a little when it comes to their sound but they make up for it in all other aspects. They have a good vibe as a club, descent and knowledgeable edm crowd, being a small club it's an intimate experience with the Dj playing there and they bring in the best underground bookings in the city. So it's just the sound that could be revamped a little and acoustics perfected a little more.

Mr. Toronto Fan rest a little more faith in the Toronto clubs.

If he really wants to see Beyer, he doesn't really have a choice.

You're always complaining.

Oh why is the artist booked at this venue [because the date and venue availability worked out, duh!!!]

Why doesn't these guys play tribal [because it's 2013 and you are living in the past]

Why don't these guys play like this in Toronto [because it's a different city and vibe].

Thank God you at least take videos, otherwise you really don't add anything to the scene.

Toronto fan: "...Or one with a good sound system"
The High Roller: "Footwork as a great sound system"

You are both off the mark. But I admit Toronto Fan significantly closer.

Compared to what Beyer has been playing on around the world, Footwork is "average" at best - not "good". It is MOST DEFINITELY not "Great" as High Roller has stated - that I think we can all agree on.

Either way you cut it, Toronto needs and deserves more and the artists that come her have no regard for our comparing one Toronto club to another as they are comparing our city's best to the world's best.

Moskito is on the right track. BLK BOX offers great hope (I was just in a Hong Kong club with a similar setup and it was exquisite) and FW's days are numbered and with any luck the owners will re-open elsewhere and put some serious capital into audio considering the competition they will be up against.

Totally agree with you! I can't believe someone would say that FW sound system is great. It really is a very average sound system, and moskito / blk box are both on the right track for that. Even CZ sound system imo is > FW.

I went twice at FW for beyer and last year was the last time I was there to listen to techno... as it doesn't sound right on it. I also found that Deep house sets sound much better at FW.
