tech house!!

i'm building a new tech house serato crate and would like some suggestions, and opinions about the style.

i find tech house is the most exciting form of dance today.

it has elements from the other subgenres, but without the drawbacks.

it has the energy - nice bold, sharp percussion. it doesn't shy away from a little melody and has nice groove... it is the opposite of the minimal movement. i.e. not boring!!

what do you think of these examples, whether they qualify as tech house, and what examples can you give?

Sorry, but not only are these tracks you posted some of the most cookie cutter, boring and uninspired dance music you can imagine to anyone with even the slightest interest in cutting edge dance music but you are also about 5 years to late.

On a more constructive note, here is a thread from a while ago with early tech house back when the genre made some sense

you talk out your arse mate, truly. and you didn't even listen to the examples given.

i'm not looking for old shit. leave your elitist gash at the door, thanks.

Of course I did. I'm laughing because you are spouting an incredibly absurd statement. Saying modern tech house is exciting is like saying modern uplifting trance is the pinnacle of creative and credible dance music.

Posted by rubez on Feb-06-2013 16:28:

either way, checked out a few tracks from that old thread... i'm not after that monochrome lifeless drab tech-house of yore, utter borefest. would rather stab myself. or commit suicide by listening to minimal... which you probably enjoy.

wouldn't like to hear your idea of exciting!!

you expect me to think you listened to they three tracks after you have just written off an entire genre with your sweeping generalisations?!

two cracking tracks. been examining the tracklists from the hybrid sets in have in my car, great stuff. you can download the sets on soundcloud, recommended.

http://soundcloud.com/hybridsoundsystem/sets

these are the best two:

Hybrid Dec 2010 Transitions mix
Hybrid SoundSystem Frisky DJ Mix June 2011

and the tracks...

Something that you might like rubez

Maybe you can find some tunes in this thread:

Banging melodic, non-minimalistic Techno and Tech-House

There should also be a link to an Adam420-thread in this thread which focuses more on melodic techno.

No offense but not only do these sound generic and boring but they also sound a little on the prog house side to me, just my opinion.

The first 3 samples you showed are no diamonds in the rough either.

you just still want to listen to something that will slightly resemble trance, because you like it, you want to hear the familiar hints of melody, so you post that funk d'void track, and the DJ Koze one, which are not tech house, but I can understand where you're digging, and as an advice, I'd say you should dig more into prog house, and if you're feeling a bit more exploratory then dig through Kompakt's catalogues, and through sets by Prince Thomas (He usually plays disco, and some amazingly blissful electronic pieces, melodic, driving, touching, don't know where he takes them from, but ignore the disco) and Apparat for instance.

And btw, saying about the likes of soul capsule and the rest of the songs in the thread that woony posted, that they are "monochrome lifeless drab tech-house of yore" Is fucking stupid. And that's good tech house, and you are 5 years too late, wave to Ricardo.

And here's a recommendation for you, and It's not tech house, you'll probably like his productions

berk is indeed a poofy english phrase.

any scottish person said that, and they'd get punched square in the face out of principle alone.

so... what would you call my examples, if not tech house? even though genres change and mean different things as time goes on, and there are even different syles of the same genre. otherwise, it's be fucking boring.

you will notice i opened this topic up to debate, only know it all losers could turn that into berate... sad.

You realize that the track I posted is almost exactly what you want? Just roll off Lonya, tONKPROJECT, and the label on Beatport. I guarantee you you'll be knee deep in that stuff within minutes on Beatport
