-- the "stolen" sound ( PART ONE )
the "stolen" sound ( PART ONE )
Hi !
remember 1996 / 1997 ?
everybody got this Pizzicatto lead sound till nobody could hear it any more ?
I read once that Faithless used this sound at first in Insomnia, then they sent the samples to DJ Quicksilver to do a remix and afterwards he used the Pizzicatto in his own productions Bellissima and "I have a dream"...Faithless was a little bit angry
cause of that...
And then the pizzicatto spread like a disease...
Am I wrong ???
Trancevision
dunno.. but if this is true then dj quicksilver is really
but really: today the same thing is going on
all the euro-pop groups have the same sound dont they? I mean fragma, sylver, lasgo etc etc... terrrribl
so?...thats the past
what a beautiful story...but ehhh
that pizzicato sound is right between the string sounds in the Roland JV series so I'm afraid it's bit of a non-true story
it's the VERY pizzicato sound, if you don't believe me I can make ya a sample in the weekend
The story of Faithless starting the trend is probably right I think. Though back then it was only really those commercial German 'Euro Trance' acts such as DJ Quicksilver, Sash!, Beam & Yanou etc. who copied them and overused the pizzicato sound. If you look at quality trance from the UK of that time period then little to none of the tracks use that.
Also, didn't Faithless take Sash! to court because of it in Encore Une Fois?

As mentioned, it's BassPizz or RealPizz on the JV series, 1080 etc.
Faithless were one of the first to use it and did try to sue Sash for plagerism, I believe but failed. Not suprising as the tune is different and you're not gonna suceed in suing someone for pressing the same preset buttons on your synth and win!
