Im giving up drinking

This isn't a im sooo hungover thread. This is a im turning 31 thread and im coming to realize I don't drink much anymore and when I do I really don't like it.

I don't have fun drinking anymore and Im starting to think I am allergic to it. 2 beers will give me a splitting headache now in the morning. I don't sleep well if i have alcohol in my system, I sweat and generally while I'm drunk my filters come right off and I'll say anything fucked up thing as a joke.

Done. Wondering if anyone else whos in their 30s now is beginning to realize alcohol isn't as fun as it once was

Fuck yeah. Beer went first (just lost the taste for it, even craft brews), then wine (just made me tired). On the rare occasion that I consume anything alcoholic now, it's something quality that I can sip and enjoy over a long period of time - single malt Scotch, Pernod in the summer.

Probably close to a decade since I've drank anything in quantity - don't miss hangovers or being blithering drunk one iota.

Coincidently, I'm "celebrating" one month of sobriety (no drinking) today. Haven't had a sip since I found out that I'm embarking on fatherhood.

I haven't smoked in almost three months, which used to be my crutch if I stopped drinking for more than a week before.

I haven't gone without a drink or smoke for a month since boot camp (7 years ago).

Feels good

Same here, but a bit longer ago.
After I met my wife I didn't go out as much as before, and the fun of drinking beer got less. Never really missed it though.
Occasionally I drink a beer, but not more than a few.
When I started to go out I also could do without alcohol. Later on I did drink a lot of beer, but while being a student having a hangover was not a big deal compared to having a daily job.

Hear, hear.

I've never been a big fan of alcohol anyway, and it's been a while since I adopted the "Drink Once a Year Policy" so I can remind myself once a year why I don't drink in the other 364 days.

I'm not sure it's got anything to do with age, in my case. To this day, I can't see why people like beer, wine, and deep house.

Has TA completed it's metamorphosis into retirement home yet?

Alcohol is pretty much the worst way of getting intoxicated, but I still do it as a social thing.

GHB. Not as bad for you, less intoxicating, no hangovers and more fun. Dangerous if abused though

Fuck that shit. Alcohol's not my favorite of party favors, but I'm still going to get smashed off it. Fuck the world.

Only the with speak in such absolutes. And when you have to convince people you are not quitting because you drink too much because you hardly drink, you drink too much.

I developed a weird allergy which ended up vomiting blood after 2 glasses of wine with dinner. Thought I had the bug but it turns out it was the alcohol. Was one of the things I Iked to collect.now I drink tea. Bullshit.

Was it red wine? If so it sounds like you had an allergic reaction to the caraway. Been to the doctors?

Getting tests done. Until I get the green light, tea and crushed oxy it is. Great before a workout. I have a fear of hospitals , sick people and needles so I've been delaying all the tests. And the whole stool sample. Ain't gonna happen. I will pay for a biopsy of my ass while I sleep before I start putting my shit in containers.

On second thought, I better slow my roll. Drank half as much as I would in my prime last night, feel just as bad the day after. I really am getting old.

Sounds to me like the sooner you get it done the better. Must be a reason your stomach (over)reacts to the alcohol that way.

my doctor knowingly prescribes it so i will abuse it so i'm sure he will find an instant release version of oxycodone. And the non crushable form was tried in Quebec, took people 2 days to circumvent the abuse resistant format. It ended up pissing up legitimate users because of sider effects.

Also my sister is an anesthetist. If I actually did take opiates which i don't, I would not be wasting my time with oxy's.

Thanks for the heads up.

Ah good then. You dodged my question though. Was it red wine?

fingers crossed it's the caraway then. opiates and geebee and stuff like that doesn't fare well in the long run, not that alcohol does either, but it just haven't got like.. those.. shady bi-effects.
I mean opiates make you whack as shit, and ghb makes whack for shit.
Alcohol just makes you whack shit.

I drink more than the next guy, I'll be the first to admit that, and I've actually been cutting back lately, but it sounds to me like you're drinking for the wrong reasons.

I drink quite frequently, but it's because I fucking love the taste of drinks with alcohol. Fuck, I've had two Old Fashioned's since I came home. Why? Because they taste fucking delicious. If you don't like the taste of alcohol and you're not having fun in a social setting anymore, then yeah, you should stop drinking.

Richie, it could also be the sulfites. I know a lot of people who have problems with them. I personally have to limit myself to two bottles of red a week, sadly.

When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.
