Read this fully - it's everything you'll need to know for the next two years.

If you have questions, then make sure they are very specific (not like this thread), otherwise you'll be told to pick up the soap
there's no synth for trance nor synth for dubstep. If you are very good you can make all genres on fl studio's 3xosc
I use Sylenth1 and Massive a lot. Hope that helps.
Yeah sylenth and massive will do you..
Here is a generic tut to get you going
Bonus points for spotting the warez but thats ok, its what all the "pros" do
Synapse Hyrdra along with omnisphere and virus
Goddam, I wish you newbs would stop referring to soft synths as "vsts".

Sylenth, but you run the risk of sounding like 99% of everyone else out there for the first couple years unless you have actual talent.
It took a lot of time and effort for me to find my main synth. Demo everything, watch demo and tutorial videos, and judge what you need, not what works for you.
But to answer your question, I use Rob Papen Predator.

Lately, the first synth I open for just about every sound, besides drums and sound effects is Lush 101, man that synth is a beast, with all the layers and built in mixer, and it just sounds amazing to my ears, it was everything I've wanted in a "soft synth". I know there are synths that can do a lot more in terms of synthesis but for me, it's that Roland sound I've wanted, I have a Jp-8080, but it's such a hassle when your trying to get shit done, I'd rather work ITB, same reason I rarely use my Ti, I love the Virus, but the Ti control doesn't work that great imo and I don't feel like recording every little thing right away.

I think we already have enough "what VST to use" threads to last a lifetime. Use the search.
