So who wishes they were Miami right now?

ME!!

I love that city. WMC or not, I think it's a fun town.

I've been going almost every year.

I actually had this week booked (at a really good room rate) but cancelled.

It was funner when it was less commercial. When ticket prices for almost every show were $20-$35 max. Now many pool parties have over $100 ticket costs.

But, ya, I prob rather be there than in the office now....I should actually go on a non-wmc week or weekend. Or maybe take one of their cruises from Miami to Bahamas.

there is nothing better then getting off that plane and just being hit by the humidity, That ocean smell (could be a fart) and Cuban chicas!!

You get a lot of Canadians at BPM. I'd say the Miami crowd is better.

Also you feel safer and cleaner in the U.S. vs. Mexico.

really wishing I went this year, but I didn't have $3K to blow. And if I learned anything from my last trip. You need 2-3K to have a good time

I spent a shit load of money last year, and I honestly had just an average time. I was either waiting in lines the entire weekend, or paying $25 for a drink while being smashed into by the fist pumping bros with white sunglasses on and their chests all hanging out like they're Tony Montana.

The only party that was fun was an underground one with maybe 200 people, and I can just do that shit at home. I took the money I would have saved and put an extra few days into Ibiza summer trip, much better overall IMO.

I took a look and it just seemed like it was just getting too big.
Hotels way expensive, flights, expensive coveres (but good god there is no shortage
of party options and I get jealous looking, so I don't). And it almost seems pointless with how big everything is blowing up
locally...Vegas seems like WMC every weekend now.

I would like to be in Playa once for BPM, but I like Playa regardless.

And yeah..more dosh for Europe/Ibiza. In face, just picked up an off-peak
ticket to Colombia with the money I saved

Oh it also helps that most of the stuff being broadcasted from UMF is utter mindless garbage....yeah, I really don't want to be in miami

how are the clubs in Miami vs ours here in LA? crowd, dresscode, drinks, decor, sound, lights etc?

this is why many are saying BPM is better, you can easily get by on $1500/week for more cutting edge music, more chill crowd etc. You can walk to everything too as Playa del Carmen is compact

very true, more predominately tech house and techno, deep, etc. But then Tiesto did a surprise visit and Sander was on the bill too. They will throw in the odd commercial nugget here and there.

I like many of the clubs in Miami. Space and Vagabond being my tops!!

My opinion only and I haven't been to Miami in a couple of years:

Crowd - never been outside of WMC but the crowds can be a lot like LA with your typical douches and bitches. Really depends on what party you attend. Luciano would have a very different crowd compared to someone like, lets say... Pauly D or Tiesto.

Dresscode - most places, you're dressing up but it still depends on the party.

Drinks - EXPENSIVE!!! Gratuity is included so drinks are immediately expensive. So don't tip unless the service is excellent (or she has nice boobs)

Decor, Sound, Lights - VERY NICE at many clubs but some clubs are simple. I remember Vagabond being very simple but with an AWESOME sound system

So... yeah... very similar to LA but you're in MIAMI!!! The great thing about WMC/MMC/whatever it's called now is there are ton of people that show up for one reason and that's to get FUCKED up and party all week long - non-stop!!!

YESSSS!! Besides having the shits at the end of the week, I would definitely go again. But this time I would get a condo with some friends.

ps...

found out the shits were caused by a virus brought down by tourists. It wasn't the water as everyone had thought.

A good friend of mine had his bachelor party during BPM this year. I couldn't go cuz I just had a newborn....he recently got out of the ICU. His liver and other organs stopped working. He was in an induced coma for a couple of weeks. He had something called "sepsis"

Now he can barely walk and had to go for dialysis every other day. Not sure if he got it from Playa, but I guess it can't be ruled out either.

if you havent been to wmc/mmc before, then you should go. its one of best and most anticipated weeks of the year in the club and dj realm, that you should experience first hand. people all around the world come to miami just for this week.

I love WMC/Miami! But it sounds like it has gone a little downhill. Still want to go back though. BPM sounds like the new WMC except I have zero interest in that music.

that's tough.. person I know had dysentry down there.. about half of the dozen ppl I knew got sick. When I went last year, hardly anyone got sick.

Having been lucky enough to be at WMC and Ibiza in previous years, if the rainbow dumps a pot of gold my way, next trip will be for the Nature One festival in Germany.

IMO, Ibiza is hands-down better than WMC, and a comparable hotel in Ibiza is even less than Miami. Never been to Nature One though, so it intrigues me now that Tomorrowland has turned to rubbish (at least the main stage).

hahaha, I was driving home with kids in the car(teenagers) and one kid said "hold up, Knife Party" and he listens to it. I'm like "Robert, this is from Miami, a festival called Ultra Music Fest and there is this thing called WMC(blah blah blah) is going on. its where the djs and music producers go and release songs, make deals with others and network." he was like "that sounds cool." I had to give him a pg version. I can't tell him everything at once.
