No need to flip out...I said that because it sounds pretty dreamy to me.

I don't really know exactly...but I guess the type of synths used make it dreamlike.

haven't heard the ian van dahl remix, but Sky Falls Down (AVB Remix) is as close to dream trance as rap is to classical music

robert miles is pretty much all you would find and his dreamland album is basically all dream trance there is.

That's true, dream trance has only been used to describe thaT particular Dreamland sound...which means dream trance=pussied out trance- def. not anything by Armin

Opps my bad.... lol I'm sorry

Posted by Axel Conrad on Sep-20-2002 23:19:

actually dream trance is what all trance should be. Beatifull melody, mostly having piano melody in the song. Something that takes you away. I heard a lot of this kind of music. Just dont know the artists. Come on, i know u heard such a music.
Ayla can be dream trance for example.

Dream Trance...dead genre..only really producer of it I know is Robert Miles..thats it.

Oh, i miss this genre...
Dream trance was produced in 1998 and 1999, and i thought it will never die. But looks like it did.
Yes, i enjoy the trance music we have now, but i liked the old and simple Dream trance much more... It's too complicated now, comparing to then. Drums, bass, synthesed piano and female vocals - i don't need anything more to feel what's the real trance feeling is... and to dream...

Come on guys, are there anyone who thinks the same?

Let's stick together and at least share the names we heard then. I didn't have much mp3s then, it was hard to find them (plus slow channels, short hdd space etc). I was listening to dream trance on some compilations, parties and even radio, and i was happy... But it's all gone.
Now i want to rebuild a collection of dream trance.

I'd start from:

Absolom - Secret
DJ Sakin and Friends - Protect Your Mind
DJ Sakin and Friends - Nomansland
Kosmonova - Take Me Away
Liquid Child - Diving Faces
Zhi-Vago - Celebrate Our Love

maria nayler!!!

i am so glad someone bring dream trance up! dream trance served as a gateway for me to love trace. at first i loved pop then i got hooked to robert miles' children(dream version), then i moved to trance.

for dream trance recommendation, i still havent seen you pepole mentioning maria nayler. try hre song called "nakled and sacred". the original version is very dreamy, and maria nayler - naked and sacred (gregorio mix) is even more dreamy! IMHO it is even better than robert miles - children (dream version). it is a must have if you like dream trance!

just a side note, the robert miles' third album was terrible....i thought it was trance but it wasnt

Why not d/l some ambient....

Posted by extepan on Sep-30-2002 00:55:

dream trance

dream trance is so different from ambient...ambient is boring

and by the way, i just remembered a dream trance song:

Motion 3 feat maria Nayler - babyland (trc mix)

it really sticks to your head!

hmm, dream trance, never really heard of it before so thats new to me

anyways, i find this song "dreamy"

Photon Project - Enlightenment

hmmm, not really new tho, lol

7C and all: actually robert miles was NOT the founder of "dream trance" (the correct term is dream house, btw). It was a gender very popular (apparently) in italy in early 94 - late 96... The first DJ to make tracks "a la dream" was Gianni Parrini, and that was back in 1993 (!!!).. One name you prolly know that was big on dream back in time was Gigi d'Agostio. The most famous, of course, is Roberto "Miles" Concina, who conquered hearts of many with his Dreamland material and eclipsed just about everybody else. He, alongside with DJ Dado (of whom I recomend his first disk, "The Album") were somewhat sharing the monopoly of dream sound back in 1996... That being said, many producers did a dream track from one time to another: Bob Kilometer by Friends, Lovers, and Family (heh see the pun?), some Zhi-Vago material (Cloudwalking or whatever), etc, etc... Personally, I would go as far as claiming some of BT's mid-career productions (found on Electric Sky Church Music disk) to be dream house/trance too (Content, etc).. The most recent track that "could" be (at extent) said to be dream house would be Jam & Spoon's Fly Me To The Moon (under their Tokyo Ghetto Pussy alias)...

Anyway, hope that helps you in your quest...

would kosmonova-dsicover the world be considered dream trance?

Posted by OMD-Space on Sep-30-2002 07:40:

if you want some dream trance .. look up dj mystik .. he's not the producer but he does have access to a lot of dream trance stuff .. so it will be a good starting point to find some dream trance tracks

Excuse me, he is not the ONLY producer of dream trance. It was a pretty big genre back in '96 and '97. Some other artists include Tomski, Disco Citizens and Invisible Man.
Check out most of the platipus releases back during that era. Absolutely amazing stuff.

'Cosmic Gate - Fire Wire' is my favorite Dream Trance
record.
