Happy days, the Violet Crown Sessions are back!

Listening to 001 now, big fan of the opening track and Namatjira in general, he's set for a big year.

Downloading both.

Was sick for a few weeks and knocked me out of my biweekly recordings. Went a little deep on this mix and opened up to some more energy on the second half. Enjoy...

I started Violet Crown Sessions years ago as an experimental, chill, progressive house type movement. Nothing meant for mainstream, or even to be played out in a club. I still continue this as I picked up the gear again early this year. However, this is a mix I put together on the fly as a clubby type mix, in other words, something I'd play out in a live gig. I literally go through from 300-500 tracks a week sorting out the crap to narrowing down a lot of great productions from today's talent - which I hope to add to in the next six months when I get my production gear together. For now, if you want to get moving, check out Just Recorded, a mix recorded live this afternoon in the studio. I'm going to record more of these as a ongoing series...

Oh damn, I didn't see these posted last time around, was a huge fan of the mixes from 2004/2005 (still have them on my iPod!) so will definitely give these a look in

I still have some Violet Crown Sessions on cassette tape! Complete with little illustrations and I did for them. Cherished those mixes, so will always check your latest mixes out Steven.

Ha. Thanks. Yeah, so I'm still dabbling in several genres, and my latest is more upbeat, still around 124bpm, but more upbeat/club like. I'll continue to make these along with some deep house/progressive sets of VCS.

Thanks for the listens guys.

Late bump for you!

Been giving these mixes quite a listen, although mostly at work where I can let things rumble in the background a little more than a straight car/home setup play. I've mostly listened to the 7/7 edition so feel most comfortable commenting on that. Great selection of tunes (although TBH, didn't like Sweep nearly as much as the others) and love Shine On You Crazy Diamond as a set starter/theme setter, though what did Faskil do with it other make it an instrumental I'm not sure
Technically super sound too though as someone who's not been near turntables (yes, turntables!) in about 10yrs I'm not going to attempt to comment much from a technical standpoint.

They do certainly feel like they're a different sound from the original Violet Crown Sessions mixes of 2004/2005. I remember those being so different, so creative and innovative from anything I'd listened to on TA at the time. This doesn't quite have that feel from what I can tell so am surprised you wanted to put this under that series of mixes.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work soon and will comment on the other mixes once I've had a chance to listen to them properly.

Thanks for the feedback. 7/7, or as I called it "Just Recorded" was more of an off the cuff, what I would probably play out in a live gig. Something a bit more up beat and a series I'll continue with outside of VCS. I actually had the same thought as you about the sound being different and I took the VCS out of it. Ha. Great feedback though.

Spinning on CDJ's is definitely a different beast than the vinyl playing back in the day of my original series. Precision is much more spot on with my setup now, including the overall sound quality the DJM900Nexus is able to push out to my PC. It took me a few sets to figure out the sound level stuff, but overall, I think I have a handle on it finally.

I just wrapped up my 7th VCS (uploading soon). You'll notice I title them as NB001, NB002, etc. The NB is for New Beginnings and although I feel my taste in my music hasn't changed, productions definitely have and I attempt to stay true to my original "sound." Give NB006 a listen and I think you'll feel the same as you did back in 2005. One last thing, holy crap, can't believe it's been like 8 years...Ha...

As always thanks for the listens and the feedback. I'll continue to crank out the mixes when possible and work to stay to true to the VCS sound. Towards the latter part of the year, I think I'll have the funds to finally invest in production gear, which I plan to crank out my sounds in 2014. Until then...
