FAO system-j

please let your rage flow in this thread so that we may all laugh

Posted by Guest on Apr-03-2013 03:39:

I think I just woke up my neighbour from how hard and how long I laughed at this picture... still going

Posted by Spam on Apr-03-2013 04:24:

Oh, they're making a new Judge Dredd?

I thought he loved that movie.

Posted by Guest on Apr-03-2013 04:54:

I'm pretty sure that's the new Robocop

*edit: or are you trolling and I just got trolled

Posted by pkcRAISTLIN on Apr-03-2013 05:27:

haha yeah i think he got you

Posted by Halcyon+On+On on Apr-03-2013 17:14:

I'm having a hard time hating this. But I am not in touch with what I was supposed to expect.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Apr-03-2013 18:38:

Sorry to disappoint you, PKC, but despite having no expectations whatsoever for this thing to be any good, I'm not really angry about it. The Robocop universe has long been desecrated by the shitty sequels and that god-awful kids TV show they made out of it in the '90s, so this remake is merely another quick thrust inside the rotting vagina of a dead horse. And as an '80s sci-fi action fan, I've pretty much gone numb to this kind of thing anyway: the Star Wars prequels, Terminator Salvation, Predators, The Thing remake, The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, fucking Prometheus... it's simply a fact of life that if you have any childhood favourites from this era, they will inevitably tarnished by some shitty remake or sequel.

Posted by enydo on Apr-03-2013 18:40:

God, Prometheus was fucking trash.

Posted by Lews on Apr-03-2013 20:18:

I just saw Prometheus a few weeks ago and was simply appalled. I shouldn't have been so surprised, though. As you said, it's inevitable.

There's no way to tell if the film's going to suck or not from this picture. I don't even think the costume is ridiculous; it can work.

Dredd showed these new adaptations can be good or even great, plus Padilha's track record is solid. Nothing to worry about so far.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Apr-03-2013 21:13:

No matter how it turns out, I'm quietly confident that you'll still pen an over-reaching essay on how the film is a masterful critique of laissez-faire capitalist ideology.

good thing I didn't open the disc yet and thank goodness for 45 day return policy...

Posted by wotyzoid on Apr-04-2013 05:54:

I still don't get how everyone here hates Prometheus so much. I wasn't alive when the original Alien came out, or even for the James Cameron sequel, but I though it was fun. The plot is funky but all the special effects and the cinematography made it a really cool film to watch IMHO.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Apr-04-2013 07:17:

Fuck off.

Posted by Psyshell on Apr-04-2013 07:25:

I particularly enjoyed the complete lack of scares and the b grade storyline.

Posted by Lira on Apr-04-2013 08:28:

You know what I really liked about Prometheus? How much of a heroine that woman is. You know, the fit one. She performed a self-abortion and still exhibited a performance worth of display in the Olympics right after she closed the stitches. You can almost tell it's not real, but a part of you still wants to believe that could happen.

She'd be the fittest heroine ever!

I hope all the favorite things from your childhood turn into money making corporate ventures, Jack. You're gonna be a very grumpy and bitter old man.

Posted by enydo on Apr-04-2013 17:40:

Pretty sure he's not really mad about that so much as that movie is just a festering turd made up to look good through eye candy.

It was horrible.

Posted by wotyzoid on Apr-04-2013 17:46:

So you admit it looks good? Sometimes that's all you need. I'll pop in a Scorsese or a Fincher if I want a story, to be honest.

Posted by SYSTEM-J on Apr-04-2013 18:24:

You're right actually. You've just made me realise a silly assumption I jumped to when I watched the film. I said at the time that the script of Prometheus was an absolute insult to the audience's intelligence. But I realise now that I was wrong. Some people are simply too stupid to have their intelligence insulted.

Thanks for helping me reach an understanding of why films like Prometheus continue to get made, Kenny.

Posted by wotyzoid on Apr-04-2013 18:29:

Dude, I'm just saying. Sometimes I just wanna see some cool shit on the screen. I'm not calling it a cult classic or anything. Get a grip.

Posted by enydo on Apr-04-2013 18:47:

I would assume he just dislikes you.
