Piknic Electronic

Any word on when the line-up is getting released?

I'm gonna be in town on the May long weekend. I hear Carl Craig is playing on Monday, but I'm most likely only going to be able to go on the Sunday.

Posted by Spin Laden on Apr-16-2013 18:52:

I think May 1st is release date, there for Craig if that's the case

I heard some names pop up thru the grapevine, Carl Craig, Guy Gerber, heard they pushed hard to book Motor City Drum Ensemble but that fell through.. which would have been PERFECT for Piknic vibes.

Axel Boman, San Proper and John Talabot is what I'm hearing for MUTEK @ Piknic which is massive.

Damn, that would have been amazing! Guy Gerber is gonna be great though.

Hopefully it's not shit weather like it has been the last few years!

I swear Mutek @ Piknic is cursed when it comes to the weather.

The Mutek Piknik and the Dave Clarke ones at the beginning of the year look awesome. Eats Everything looks interesting too. The rest is the weakest I've seen in forever. I'll only be in MTL 3 weeks this summer...sniff sniff. A tad weak.

Dave Clark...meh....don't like his selections these days. Very noisy techno. I think you'd agree Jay. Not quite the Dave Clark of 15 years ago.

Dave Clarke and Carl Craig are the only two that have my attention. Sadly, I'll probably find both their sets to be meh. I'll still go just to finally see these legends, even if they are no longer in their prime. If shit gets bad, ill put on a pair of headphones and listen to an old Dave Clarke set, while everyone looks at me dancing offbeat to 130+ bpm.

Posted by The Highroller on May-02-2013 03:04:

Life + Death is the only one that interests me, but then again, maybe I need to look into the artists I don't know to see if I like them.

Posted by Adam420 on May-02-2013 03:21:

The Mutek one definitely has a very solid lineup. I'd recommend that one.

Posted by corjay9 on May-02-2013 22:56:

terrible line up. Going to Mutek for sure, but besides that I'm not really looking forward to anything. Maybe they realized it doesn't matter who they book, cuz 3/4's of the crowd dont really care either way? lol..

I'll probably still end up going a few weekends regardless of the DJs just cuz I love Piknic.

edit: I'll go watch M.A.N.D.Y. too most likely, Phil played a great club hours set last year.. solid DJ.

Posted by Casa on May-03-2013 02:48:

Mutek thursday Friday Saturday
saturday night at circus for jeremy olander
sunday at piknic for axel boman
week of death.

besides that, attending zero parties at piknic this year.

Posted by Fran666 on May-03-2013 10:26:

yikes !!!

Posted by Master Kush on May-04-2013 02:23:

Is everyone on crack??

This is the best line up in years.

Craig
Clark
Gerber
MANDY
Eats Everything
Radioslave

Are bigger/better names than they have booked in a long time.

Then you have the likes of Fairmont, Tiga, Monika Kruse, Axel Boman, Lebaron which are pretty solid bookings too. Maybe not all my thing but a decent spread of styles nonetheless.

Are you expecting an igloofest-like line up for every weekend in the high season of summer?

I know bitching about lineups on TA is like a right of passage but cmon..

The Thug****** booking needs more love.

Also, DJ Tennis. He will be very good at Piknic. If I wasn't at DEMF a couple of weeks earlier, I'd be making the trek to Montreal.

That's one of the few I'd like to make it to. Unfortunately it's competing against Burridge's first ADID party in NYC, and I just found out Tenaglia's at Output the night before. Too good of a combo to miss for me.

The ADID parties are the best. I've been to the last two in Brooklyn and I had such a blast! It's going to be Piknic for me that weekend, but I'll be back for more Lee in NYC for sure this year.

Posted by Marcus007 on May-06-2013 18:04:

wow good job piknik!

love it!!

I'll only go 2-3 times to be honest as well since the heydays of Piknik are behind me. Every since they become buddy-buddy with the government everything changed. It's now a money maker more than a cultural event but hey that's just evolution.

Still very happy to see them invest more in the line-ups. Some great locals on there too!

Am I the only one that feels this way?

You should come, we will be there.

If the weather cooperates I'll be out on Sunday after a night of Plex. Forecast looks agreeable at this point, although I know nothing about the names.
