I would be down for this BUT I'm kind of put off on going to less "popular" shows there now since they have closed an hour early the past two times I've gone..

Ohhh theres only 100 people left in the venue, ohhh everyone is amped and dancing the dj is throwing down great tunes? Ok lets close up shop.

This happened for Tiefschwarz and Davide Squillace.

...and Booka Shade, though they did get a 20 minute encore after 2 a.m.

I did and they have not replied

this is what I wrote

Soooo I've been attending since you guys opened in January, I love the scene you are trying to bring into Hollywood on Fridays... HOWEVER the past two times I have been here you have shut the party down early instead of the 4am time you have been promoting.
I find it unacceptable for you to shut an event down at 3am, for an event people payed money for, bought drinks at, and potentially even food at. Not to mention; me personally as I'm sure others have done, made friends come, telling them how amazing of a time can be had at your venue.

NOTICE WHAT IT SAYS ON YOUR FACEBOOK PAGE AND THE WEBSITES WHERE YOU SELL TICKETS AT!!

http://image shack.us/a/img42/8076/hmmmmw.jpg

Is this the norm? Is this going to continue? I suspect having 75-100 people still in your venue is plenty to have the event continue, some of the biggest underground events in Los Angeles which have capacities WAY above your venue will continue their events for 2-4 hours even if there are only 25 people remaining on the dancefloor.

You paid the artist, you made the money at the bar what minuscule amount of money are you losing by keeping the music going until 4?

OHHH ALSO! I won guestlist being given away by Davide Squillace, go to the front girl refuses to check list past the 1st page... so I'm like ok...can you please check the other pages? Her reply "No" I pull up Davide Squillaces facebook and show her the +1 I won, her reply "No"

We already had tickets but I guess I can't give my friends the tickets I had purchased now. Step inside the venue, less than 2 minutes later some friends arrive and I start having a conversation with one of the friends, he then tells me congrats on winning gl, I tell him sadly the girl at the front refused to look at the guestlist past the 1st page (She has like 7 pages in her hand), what happens next?

Guy that works at the club host of some sort I'm guessing comes up to me and says "Hey are you going to continue bitching or have a good time?"

I look at him and I'm like ? wtf I'm talking to my friend why are you listening in on my conversation?

Ohhhhh also
"Davide Squillace: Hi there,Alex. We personally hanged the names to the promoter and got a confirmation back. What was the problem exactly?

It seems to me like this place, or at least the staff, expected it to be the new hot trendy place for the bottle service/hipster crowds to congregate, kind of like Playhouse/Drai's, and that's not what they're getting, so they're becoming bitter.

Saturday nights are turning into open format....hip hop, top 40, house etc. (DJ Savi)

Everytime I've been, that girl at the door was NOT NICE AT ALL.
lol
I had a problem my first time since I didn't print out my ticket. I don't understand why that's such a big deal - most parties nowadays seem to just print out a list of everybody who bought tickets through RA and can then check you off the list. Otherwise, they can certainly scan the barcode off of your smart phone (she kept saying 'sorry I can't scan it from the phone'....uhhhh why not just try? i've had it done at other places...)

I don't understand attitudes like that. The bottle crowd may pull in the money initially, but they're notoriously fickle and quick to abandon a club for the next hot spot six months later. It's the real house heads that are going patronize your venue for years (if you book the right talent), but treat them like shit and you lose them too.

Paper guestlists are soooo last decade. lol

Companies like Eventbrite let the venue or promoter create guest lists online. The promoter can than use Eventbrite's app to check off the people as they arrive. Not only that, but when people sign up they get a printable ticket that has a barcode and can get scanned using a smartphone or a tablet. Plus, since it's all tied to the web in realtime, there can be multiple people scanning guestlist tickets. On the promoter side, there's a ton more benefits and it's ALL FREE for the promoter, the venue, and the clubber.

THIS! Back when I was working with Spundae, it was all about customer loyalty. "Take care of the customers, they're the ones paying your bills", is what my boss always told me. Yes, the bottle service crowd spends a lot of money, but it's the average clubber that is going out week after week who really counts.

This is exactly why circus was packed for decades. They (VIP TOM and their greeters (sunshine, cole, etc.) made the average Joe feel VIP. The lineups have been solid enough, the customer service aspect should be easily to implement.

Ill always remember when I first starting going to Spundae at circus there some Jackass friend of Gene's asking people for $100 to cut in line on a crazy busy night. while the rest of us waited in line with tickets in hand. I posted my frustration in the spundae boards and Lisa immediately emailed me, and invited me to come back and gave me a VIP table on the balcony and a bottle of bubbly. From that weekend on I think I was at circus every weekend for the next 4 years.

I have been to Sound twice and the first time was a great experience, we got there right at 10 pm for Martin Butritch (sp) and there was no one else there, we got comped to get in, the promoter bought our first drink and it stayed pleasantly full but not over packed. and yes they closed down around 3;30 am because it wasn't completely packed.
i went last weekend for Lee Burridge, and I can say that unless one of my favorite djs makes it back there I will not go again. I don't like the attitude of the staff, they only cater to bottle service people and many of the patrons don't even know who the dj is spinning

Not my kind of club at all
I love Nicole but I will be in Detroit the following weekend for Movement and will see her properly there with people that will appreciate her and the type of music she plays!

I got the same thing when I last went to Exchange. The guy said he couldn't scan my phone. Luckily I had also printed my ticket, and he accepted that.

SO WEIRD?! I guess people just have this Luddite fear about new tech.

This is the same night as Henry Saiz anyway. I can wait for Nicole til next time - she'd be perfect for somewhere a bit dingy, like Dim Mak. No attitude or bottle service wankers there.

You don't even need your ticket for Exchange, they have a print off for backup. I've gotten shit faced and forgot my ticket a few times and they've always helped. The door guys at Exchange are also really cool.
