Missing producers

These are few producers that suddenly disappeared: one day, people stopped talking about them and they didn't release any more records (I guess). What happened to these guys?

Tony de Vit
DJ Keoki
CJ Bolland
Robert Miles
OT Quartet
PF Project
Brainbug
Aphex Twin
Antiloop (I know about "Trespasser" remix, but didn't they produce anything new!?)
Weichei
The Horrorist (did he produce anything after "One night in NYC"!?)

This list could go on and on

Posted by Tsunami One on Sep-21-2002 03:17:

Aphex Twin has had a new double album out & Tony De Vit is dead.
Robert Miles is sitting on a pile of $$$$ & The Horrorist aka Oliver Ho has put out new tracks.

One producer who disappeared and has recently returned - Matt Darey. I think he went off and smoked pot in Ibiza for 2 years

Strange, I can't find any new releases

Posted by kurai on Sep-21-2002 08:31:

CJ Bolland has remixed The Moon - Shake It
and Weichei's last track was "The Fly", remixed by Embargo. So they're not unactive at all.

Posted by TranceSeeker on Sep-21-2002 09:15:

O.T. Quartet is the black guy (the singer) from faithless

Posted by Sand Leaper on Sep-21-2002 10:29:

CJ Bolland has a new track out called "See Saw" on Mole Recs.,and as Kurai mentioned,he has remixed "Shake It" from The Moon(yeah, the guy behund "Blow The Speakers").Horrorist has LOADS of new productions,he has a track called "The Virus" out on A45 recs, with remixes from Northern Lite,Ben Sims etc.He also participated on a 9/11 tribute EP from Sonic Groove Recs. with a track called "Blood In The Sand".He also remixed a bunch of tracks as well. And I don't think that Oliver Ho = The Horrorist, but can anyone confirm?

Tony De Vit died of AIDS,I think. Can't remeber when, tho.RIP

Posted by shoXx on Sep-21-2002 10:33:

Some people say that Tony De Vit died of Aids, some people say he took an overdose. What was the real cause of his death?

blood transfusion went wrong or sumthing coz he had bad bone marrow.

Posted by aloep on Sep-21-2002 11:05:

Tony De Vit died of bone marrow failure and bronchial pneumonia on 2nd July 1998.

A few more:
Qattara (Alex Whitcombe & Andy Cato)
Lucid
Man With No Name
Chicane - Nothing since Autumn Tactics.
Cygnus X - I know old tracks of his have been remixed but he's never done anything since his remix of Art Of Trance - Breathe in 1999 as far as I know.

What about DJ Jurgen?, Its like he disapeared off the face of the earth to never be heard from again.

that's correct. behind horrorist is oliver... but not ho. it's oliver chesler. the guy has had numerous releases on lenny dee's industrial strength label under different names and in collaboration w/ others (that includes john selway, manu le malin, marc acardipane, lenny dee, neil landstrumm, etc...) i reckon he has more than 30 releases in total on more than 6 different labels

NO, he did a really cheesy track some months back, its not even worth checking out. I hope he dissapears from the face of the earth coz he sucks

what about yahel?

Posted by Lira on Sep-21-2002 17:54:

This is too much information for just one thread

Tony De Vit died four years ago!? "Don't ever stop" was my favourite tune back in 2000... and I couldn't even imagine he was already dead by that time

OT Quartet is that black guy from Faithless!? I didn't know he was a producer :P Has he ever joined Sister Bliss and Rollo? (as a producer, not as a rapper)

Lucid - I think they released something around January, but I never found the mp3.

DJ Jrgen - Can someone explain if he was Alice deejay's producer? I suppose Alice was a producer herself, but DJ Jrgen is behind all her songs (am I right?)

Man with no name - is there a chance he finally got a name and that's why we haven't heard from him anymore?

Posted by Sand Leaper on Sep-21-2002 18:07:

Cygnus X = Ralf Hildenbeutel. He hasn't done much with Cygnus X after Positron, but he has worked with numerous producers,Sven Vth to name one.

Yahel is back with a new track, played twice by Armin already on his A State Of Trance show.

Whats Vincent de Moor up to?

Haha... where did you hear that? O.T Quartet were Rollo (Dido's brother and producer) and Rob D. Well, at least the Faithless connection was correct with Rollo.

Posted by Dark Apostle on Sep-21-2002 22:55:

The reason some producers dissapear is also coz they start their own labels or open their own shops. Some do even retire.....eventualy.

Aahh... well, that's easier to believe hehe, when they were young Rollo used to yell at Dido whenever she sung...

Nowadays, I do the same thing with my sister... I hope we'll get as famous as they did

I've remembered a couple more:

Quake - Well respected trance remixers back in 1998-2000)
Blue Amazon - They last did Breathe in June 2000 to the best of my knowledge which was remixed by the above (Quake) and that's how I remembered these 2 at the same time. They had several beautiful vocal based singles such as 'And Then The Rain Falls' in 1997 and an album titled 'The Javelin'.
