Tone 2 Gladiator

Anyone else using this/like this?

Someone from this forum introduced me to this (Cheers Nemisis)

I know its not a new synth, been around for a good few years, but its my newest purchase and im finding it really useful for adding a layer of dirt to things, or for tight, raw sounding bass

#its quite straightforward to make interesting type sounds due to the "modifiers" in the oscillator signal path, the interesting waveforms, Phase mod, spirit mode etc. It also has different modes e.g ultra and linear which give things a different character

Its pretty easy to get the hang of compared to say a complex fm synth and imo its definality got its own unique, modern soudning character which imo layers very nicely with your sylenth/virus/etc

Yup, long-time Gladiator user here. HCM synthesis is cool - very unique synth.

gotta have to check it out, since a year or two i make all my music entirely with sylenth as is the synth i am most familiarized to but the result may be a bit stale as i need fresh sounds this may be what i am looking for judging for what you say

i really like electrax. The ability to use samples makes it rather versatile. Saurus is also good despite being a plain jane subtractive synth. It sounds different. they really need to update their pricing tho.

Agreed on ElectraX and Saurus - they're very nice synths. I keep getting tempted to sell them because I have far too many soft synths, but I can't seem to force myself to part with them. As for pricing, I either buy them during the early-bird sales, or secondhand.

I tried to get gladiator secondhand but couldn't find a licience so had to buy new. The staff there seem really helpful/cool and they even gave me a free plug in when I had to wait a bit longer for my d/l

That's good to hear. Those guys get a bad rap for having an attitude, but I've always had good communication with them and find them to be very helpful and easygoing.

anyone know how to get basic portamento working on this thing? I cant figure out how to get it to glide from 1 note to the next, all it's doing is gliding up like an octave every time I play a note

Which glide setting are you using? The glide rate is tempo-based, and you have the option of having it always glide from one note to the next, or legato (glide only when notes overlap).

Excellent synth, i love it for psy

One of my very few go to synths. I sorta have a love / hate relationship with it - for example the basic piano samples are like a 1985 Casio keyboard.

I have this thing lately at not being satisfied with the bass from any soft synth, particularly when using sub as I can hear all manner of artefacts n shit. Even Strobe (DCAM Synthsquad) has pretty nasty sub. Am I too fussy maybe?
