Asmr

Anyone have any videos that cause them to have ASMR? Mine started as a kid with the voice of Mister Rogers but didn't return til I was 13 or so when I saw a movie called full body massage with the main character being the guy that starred with Tom Cruise in Cocktail. Ever since then massages give me ASMR (non sexual massages work the best). Here is a couple of examples.

Adjustments as well...

So by watching these you get tingly?

Posted by Paradox Lost on May-18-2013 11:05:

Some people respond quite favorably to these, but I simply can't find myself entering into a relaxed state while being excruciatingly aware of narrator's salivary smacking, no matter how much I want to be persuaded by what she's saying- too much aural definition, dude.

And why do these things seem to be invariably narrated by a young, rather attractive woman spinning role-playing scenarios? Makes me wonder if a lot of people are just using them to feed an ulterior sensual desire.

What you are talking about is those whispering (role playing) ASMR videos.

I can NOT get myself into those either. I think they are simplistic and kinda childish and they do nothing for me. And your right, they are mostly done by young teenagers. They probably work mostly on other young people or possibly perverts.

If you watch the videos I posted you will see they are not whispering naritive but just unorthodox massage videos with real background noises. These are the types of videos that work for me.

Sometimes a good lecture will also give me ASMR but I don't have any examples at the moment. A good trippy movie has done the trick like the first time I saw A Clockwork Orange or Twin Peaks as a teenager. Basicly non sexual massage videos are the bees knees.

I used to get real tingly but all the videos that used to work don't seem to work anymore as I seen the videos more than several times each. I have other examples but I was more curious if anyone else had ASMR experiences through life and if they possibly had some examples of their own experiences. It could even be a art piece. I know there is always a art appreciation thread going around these parts.

Would you say it's similar to the pleasurable scalp tingling sometimes caused by sneezing? But prolonged?

I don't have that to compare to. It is scalp tingling though so I would say it's close but AMSR is external where prolonged sneezing is internal.

Common external triggers:

Exposure to slow, accented, or unique speech patterns

Viewing educational or instructive videos or lectures

Experiencing a high empathetic or sympathetic reaction to an event

Enjoying a piece of art or music

Watching another person complete a task, often in a diligent, attentive manner - examples would be filling out a form, writing a check, going through a purse or bag, inspecting an item closely, etc.

Close, personal attention from another person

Haircuts, or other touch from another on head or back

Come on.

It started with Mr. Rodgers voice as a kid.

And the head massages don't work anymore so I thought someone on TA would have a video of something or a lecture etc.

What's worse ASMR or prolonged sneezing.

Hey Anxities, I'm not trying to rag on you but you get off on prolonged sneezing? Not that there is nothing wrong with that but how do you do it, I haven't googled it yet.

Posted by Spacey Orange on May-21-2013 20:24:

you're even more twisted than i thought.

Never had a prolonged sneeze, they're always brief. But they usually produce a tingling in the back of the head. I assumed this happened to most people. This ASMR thing sounds like a longer version of the scalp tingling caused by sneezing.

Posted by Spacey Orange on May-21-2013 21:34:

i get that. i call it a boner.

The tingling might be similar but I can't say for sure because I don't tingle when I sneeze and I really don't know what prolonged sneezing is. off the top of my head it sounds like a way of making yourself sneeze so you can get that tingle effect but I could be wrong.

Also, didn't you read what I posted under your first question about the prolonged sneezing? AMSR is tingling from external stimulation and I aM 99.9% positive that sneezing and prolonged sneezing is from internal stimulation.

But speaking of ASMR, I got it last night in Austin after I got my new tattoo. I went to see a friend that now lives in Austin and I hadn't seen him 6 years. So we met up and he wanted me to stay the night so he bought me a greyhound ticket for the morning since I was supposed to leave that night. Well we get back to his house and he has 4 roommates. Everyone went to sleep except me because I was reading The Tibetan Book Of The Dead so that later on I could make a laymen response to all the bullshit in the book.

Well, his last roommate came home and he had to wired because just kept walking past me and I wanted to introduce myself but he kept looking down and after 30 minutes of him going from his room to the kitchen it gave me ASMR because his actions were so weird that he became interesting to watch.

I'm not surprised that no one on TA has a ASMR case like I do but I am under the assumption that more than a few people on here have experienced a ASMR situation. Like in school when a professor is giving a killer lecture and you get real wrapped up in it and the knowledge is just pouring out no one has ever felt any kind of externl feeling when your that interested in something. Or an intiment conversation with your spouse, mate wife or husband.

I guess it's only me then but it started when I was a child.

who doesnt know about Baba?!

i've watched his first video innumerable times. so good and relaxing:

i also watch massage and adjustment videos as well, but they don't exactly elicit ASMR but I do get relaxed watching them. check out "gonstead" videos for a bunch of good ones. there used to be this one channel that had a ton of awesome ones but cant find it anymore.

here are a couple i like, but there are tons i've watched:

Check this out. This person spoke recently at a demonstration I attended. I've never experieneced ASMR before she spoke but her voice definitely triggered it for me.
Here's an interview she did, tell me her voice isnt awesome! She starts talking for the first time at 2:06.
