Rasta recommend something natural that promotes relaxation

Something legal and non-alcoholic. I just really get wound up sometimes and need to chill down. Any ideas?

Melatonin.

If your body ain't makin' enough of it, you can pick some tablets at any health store.

I forgot. I need to able to work in this relaxed state.

Posted by Sykonee on May-26-2013 22:23:

Ah, relaxing without the whole falling asleep bit.

I haven't used it much myself, but I hear kava kava is the kind of thing you're looking for.

Excellent magnesium supplement, won't induce the same drowsiness melatonin does.

Also, my go-to for clinically proven supplementation - http://www.informationisbeautiful.n...il-supplements/ - quite a few above the "worth it" line that assist in lowering blood pressure.

Lastly:

You want like...pills/supplements? What about regular meditation and breathing exercises? Yoga? Regular massages? Ah man I want regular massages. :/

Posted by Spacey Orange on May-27-2013 00:25:

i was thinking something more along the lines of drinking or eating. but pills could also work.

Is it for overall relaxedness or for acute situations?

I actually don't know much about natural supplements aside from the stuff already mentioned...I'm just curious.

I just get too amped up sometimes, and i can become a pompous asshole and become really difficult to deal with. One time my employ said something innocuous under his breath and i grabbed his arm and said Say it again. Say it again." I was ready to punch him. I was looking for something to slow me down.

Maybe theres nothing to cure that

Posted by Silky Johnson on May-27-2013 20:33:

Yessir, I use them at the gym. It's the physical touch I want. I love being massaged or having my hair fiddled with. One of my coworkers came up behind me and briefly massaged my shouldrrs theb ran her fingers through my hair and I could've died omg. I am tingling all over just thinking about it. Hnnggghhh.

After being told I had one of the tightest backs she had ever worked on by a massage therapist here, I took her recommendation and ordered this nasty piece of gear called the rumble roller. She says it's going to hurt at first, but I'm willing to do what it takes. I guess you're supposed to work your way up from softer ones to this, but I don't feel like buying a bunch of them, and she said it'd be ok as long as I could stand the pain of jumping right to the tougher one.

Maybe try it in a different form? I dunno. I'm actually going to give it a shot myself. This thread has reminded me that I wanted to give it a go for a while but then forgot.

@PivotTechno what is that link? snake oil?

Posted by PivotTechno on May-28-2013 12:46:

It's a link to an interactive infographic detailing proven efficacy of various supplements and vitamins. Very handy in eliminating pseudo-science from the equation.
