Smiley DJ Eugene's First Live Mix ("Autumn Emotions") - Fast D/DL!

TAs,

I'd like to present to you my first recorded mix. The download is direct and fast, and the mix is only 45 min. long, so you won't be bored. (I made it so it would fit onto a cassette.) The mix is titled "Autumn Emotions", and although it's not perfect, I think it really conveys the autumn atmosphere of falling leaves, sadness, etc.

I'd like to hear your comments, suggestions, analysis, reaction, anything you might want to write about, in terms of tracklist, mixing (as I said it's my first mix and maybe not perfect), the general mood, etc. What song(s) did you like? What feelings did it evoke? Do I have any hope of becoming a DJ?

TT's: Numark TT-1520 (yes, I know, shitty)
Time: 44:25

1. Sunscreem vs. Push - Please Save Me (Original Vocal Mix)
2. Yves DeRuyter - Music Non-Stop (Original Mix)
3. Eyes of Tanatloc - Dreams Are Forever (Lonely Club Mix)
4. Hypnotic State - Empathy (Bill Vega's Edit)
5. Matanka - Lost In A Dream (Push Trancendental Mix)
6. Jupiter feat. Prime - Secrets of Life (Jupiter Mix)
7. D-Mention - Daydream (X-Tended Mix)

Download: EU-Gene - Autumn Emotions.mp3

Big Ears

Song selection is good.. but your beatmatching needs practice. Not bad for a first mix though.

Thanks for the feedback.
Indeed, there are some mixing problems (esp. the last transition).
Will continue practicing!

Hey guys, I fixed the problem with the cut-off ending, and re-uploaded the MP3; now it's full and correct. So feel free to download!

Any more comments?

Mix

The Mix is not bad...I liked it until track 5 afterwards the music is too commercial for me. Mixing could be done better. But a good start

Good mix overall...fairly short, but if this is all on vinyl, thats fine The beatmatching is a bit off in places, near the end of your mix, but thats just something that takes time...try working on combining percussion from songs now, and you might want to try long transitions...I usually cue a song at around 2:00 left on the other...thats just me though I love empathy, grabbing it now...the rest of the tracks were good as well all in all, keep practicing, and youll be great

Yes, it's all on vinyl.
The reason I made it so short was so it would fit on one side of a cassette (45 min.). I only have a casette player in my car, so I can't play CD's there Also, listening to a long mix bores me a little, I have a short attention span

finally got the time to listen to your mix

1st off, well done, it's not easy presenting your 1st mix to the ppl on these forums for scrutiny as i know a lot of them are very critical.

I like your track selection, the tunes flow into each other quite nicely, some of the cue points seem a little off, like i would have the cue point in a couple of the tracks about 2 mins or so into the track but that all comes with practise, watch for annoying double beats or snare builds, they used to get me big time when i started to mix lol.

your beatmatching is not bad, a lot of the tracks are beatmatched nicely but not quite synched, as in the bpm is the same on both tracks but u get like an echo effect where both tracks are not evenly synched.

channel gain is good, no difference in volumes between both channels, quite an essential part of mixing that spesh during the transistion IMO.

Overall Eugene a very good 1st mix i enjoyed it, keep with it man

Hey not bad at all for your first mix Eugene! I dont wanna repeat everything that was said, but yeah the mixing needs some work, but practice makes perfect!
Track selection is great! My two favs would have to be:

Sunscreem vs. Push - Please Save Me
Metanka - Lost in a Dream (Push remix)

Gotta love Push... you have good taste in trance (cause it's similar to my own ), just keep practicing and look forward to hearing future mixes of yours...
