Spirited Away Anime

I just have to say wow.
I have never seen anything like it. I've seen anime movies about robots, girls (think what you want to think), space cowboys, and stupid fools who get the girl, but this has got to be the most original thing I have ever seen. Its about a girl Chihori who moved away to a new house with her mother and father. The dad takes a "shortcut" and they end up finding a tunnel that gradually leads them to an old theme park. She wanders off for a bit, and finds herself in a whole different world. She meets all sorts of characters and ends up working at a bath house owned by a witch.
If you like Princess Mononoke you will diffenetly want to check it out. Hayao Miyazaki who created Princess Mononoke was behind this one, so you know this is going to be good.
If you have never seen a anime by Miyazaki, you might want to watch Princess Mononoke before Spirited Away. The movie is a bit trippy. The movie was really good, but near the end of the movie, it gets kind of cheesy (in my opinion at least). But I totally recommend this movie.

Don't everyone hate me all at once here, but I don't like anime or anything that has to do with it :P... it's just not my type of thing haha... I'd rather watch care bears on tv and play with rainbow brite

contrary to popular belief, all anime is not cartoon porn, or shit like pokemon. by saying something like this you just make yourself look like an ignorant ass to all the people who actually watch anime.

as far as spirited away, damn good movie. one of the best ive seen, anime or not. if you are in the states, its in some theaters now. i highly recommend the subtitled version. i wouldnt say its "Weird" tho... i loved it, kind of like neverending story. the reason why i like anime so much is that there can be tons of ideas that can be done that cant be done in a regular movie. this definitely shows that.

i dont think princess mononoke was very indicative of a miyazaki movie, tho. i thought it was quite different than his normal stuff.

any of you that are completely in the dark with the wool over your eyes like trance canada, and would like some GOOD anime to watch (dark serious shit, violent swordsman stuff, anything ).. message me, i can help hook you up you'd be surprised, once you get past the stupid ass stereotype just mentioned, how interesting some anime is.. rather than just being "kiddie stuff" or porn.

I didn't like anime/manga either, Toronto-Trance. Specially because, here in Brazil, we usually think that anime are something restricted for nerds who haven't grew up despite of their ages. One day, however, a friend of mine introduced me to Excel Saga, and I fell for this one. Today, I don't have any of the prejudice I used to have against this kind of thing (otherwise, I wouldn't have taken my avatar from "Rurouni Kenshin" and sig from "Excel Saga"). I don't watch any other anime yet, but I learned not to generalise in any case - think about it

Ps: Is there any anime like Excel Saga?

Spirited Away was awarded by the americans, something somewhat rare for anime -out of china- movies! That must have a meaning!
Princess Mononoke was great too,a really enjoyable movie even though i didn't like the ending alot...i wanted those 2 to be together
oh well,maybe some other time..!

Love is in the air Wow!

I have not seen this movie in English yet... I watched this movie in Japan, and it was like..."ya, Wow!" I think that I will see some differences by translating from Jap to English.

The girl in this movie must be "Chihiro". Yay! Jap anime feveeeRRRRR!!

If you think Anime is childish like "Care-bears" have a look at Akira or Ghost In The Shell

This movie rocks, I would go see it in the theaters downtown, but its a dub there(why???).

--Maaz its kinda wierd that you would like Excel Saga with out watching much in the way of other anime as most of the jokes are making fun of anime in general.

if you really think all anime is for kids, go gather a bunch of kids and put in Grave of the fireflies. Then watch as the psychological scars form before your very eyes(always fun).

I've heard much about this movie but have yet to see it. Are there any DivX rips of it available yet?

I've been trying to download this movie off Sothis' anime hub forever now and nobody seems to have a slot open.
Anyways I got the 1 CD version but the quality is pretty poor so I don't want to watch it yet, I want to wait to get the 2 CD version. Then I finally get the 2 CD versions and there's no english subtitles!!!! grrrr.........

I'll have to download it again and get this movie even if it kills me.
