Sneaker Pimp Brining Trance To NYC Radio...

Ok this has been in the works for awhile now and i finally got a "gig" with a radio station here in nyc. Its not big balls but its a start. This station has a potential listener base of 2.5 million listeners in the nyc area none the less the webcast. I am just asking all of you for advice, as this will be my first real big gig. It will be spun live i have no idea how to take care of a radio audience as you can't see their reactions and know what to spin etc etc.. the show is on from this wednesday the 25th from 10pm - 2am. you can listen to it @ www.wsia.fm just click on listen live. if you are in the staten island area just tune your station to 88.9fm. I hope you all enjoy this and i am looking for feedback after the show and some advice for it b4 Tempest

Im not a dj but I have seen almost every top dj/producer there is. Since this is a 4 hour set my advice to you would be to go progressive. Start with the euphoric stuff them work it into some hard banging style Above all remember that this is your set, and you must go with what your feeling at that moment.Good luck and ill be listening in on your set

also pm rouz he used 2 run umd radio show here...i have spun there couple of times!!!

Posted by TempesTrip on Sep-23-2002 20:03:

it isn't "my show" i'm basically just a guest dj for the normal show. hopefully if all goes well i'll be there on a monthly basis. i'm not sure of the set tiem but its def not 4 hours. heh i guess i should of mentioned that. i'm not sure exactly what time i start. i know i have to be there at 930 then i go on whenever they say. thanks for the tips/advice and encouragement given so far.

oh damn...then record ur set...i wanan hear u spin!

Posted by DJDavidScott on Sep-24-2002 17:25:

Good luck. My advice to you is this...check out the charts locally, what is hot right now, and what are people buying in the stores. Throw some of those tunes on to keep people interested. Keep your own style, include some classics as well as some exclusives you may be hiding. Have fun!

Posted by amit on Sep-24-2002 17:39:

well i am sure he has songs that are hot right now...i heard him spin couple of times on ta radio. hes better then the average dj

:P

Posted by DJDavidScott on Sep-24-2002 18:02:

I'm sure he does have hot tracks now, I was just saying that those hot tracks along with classics as well as some tracks that really don't get much PT would make for a great radio show

yay staten island radio!

are you going to CSI or are you just guesting on the station?

Posted by TempesTrip on Sep-25-2002 00:37:

thanks amit i'm gonan record it either in the studio or have one of my friends record it one their radio. one way or another it will be recorded. i think tiger is gonna be streaming it in the chatroom as it happens so you can jump in there to listen along as well as the links i provided.

Davidscott i'm gonna be trying to play a lil bit of both. You know how staten island is with their music. all a bunch of ktu heads and what not. So i'm gonna sneak some of my stuff in along with stuff i think would please them.

Lil lizzy, Nah i don't got there, i am just guesting on the station. I got in well with niki/raven over the past year or so and she heard a demo i sent her liked it and well here i am. Like i said if all goes well gonna try ot make it a monthy thing. Why do you go to csi? i'm guessing you live on the island.

awesome stuff, good luck with it. i'll make sure to tune in

Posted by DJDavidScott on Sep-25-2002 15:13:

Good stuff. KTU heads are okay I guess...a little mainstream, unless you are dealing with those who toughen it out through level 5 on Saturday nights. I haven't done that in years! Good luck. Is this in the city or on the Island? If in NYC, I would love to submit a demo for a possible guest spot. Let me know.

Posted by ExcelonGT on Sep-25-2002 19:41:

will your set be streaming on TA radio as well? How can I hear this over the web?

Posted by TempesTrip on Sep-25-2002 20:24:

i'm not sure if i am going to be able to set up a stream for ta radio before i leave but i know that tigerclaw will be relaying it. You can hop into the ta chatroom around 10pm (est) and he should have a link otherwise you can listen live directly from the radio stations website www.wsia.fm

Posted by webworkfilms on Sep-25-2002 22:24:

Csi, and their radio station 88.9.... Seems like they have a history of having trance on the radio, but theres also a history of it all falling apart. Back in the days it was Richard Sullivan who would have the best prog house/trance show on 88.9.. He would even have guests once in a while such as, Sandra Collins, Deepsky, and of course Sasha and Digweed before they managed to blow up.
Shit happened so Rich gave up djing there, and then gave up djing in general and lost all his contacts. After him Dj Andy Sky took over them nights playing the same type of music. Though he was a horrible dj, he had a huge fan base due to the music he played. Over the few years he was on the station his skill improved, but then the show stopped again. Csi has a history of getting rid of its trance shows. Anyway I hope all goes well cause its been a while since i recorded anything from 88.9, much too long i must say.
