imo, DJ Scot Project composed the best melodies

His melodies were euphoric, pulsating, and flat out bad ass. I miss his contributions to the scene.

i could write an essay on why scot project was a key figure in dance but I would say his form was what made him stand out. He had some great melodies, but when you think about say F, or thunder in paradise, the melody is just a static repetition of 3 notes. For melody, SHOKK , flutlicht and alphazone always seemed to be more melody oriented.

Its always been a mystery to me in that every single dj at the time was canning his stuff but he just never really blossomed as an artist in the public view. He is kinda weird and I think that probably had alot to do with it. Every producer always mentioned him as an influence tho. IF you made trance and you were around in 2000, scot project was in your top 5.

Your insight was required, but did you really just say the bolded? No friggin way brethren.

scot project melodies were the worst... possibly ever. so high strung and irritating.

he did, however, excel in other areas. the percussion patterns were some of the best out there... very addictive, and of course there's his basslines

frank is a legend of his time, he made most hard trance tracks seem like love ballads.

paranoid had the most penetrating kick of all time i think. he was a great producer, just not melodies.

If I said he composed the best basslines, you would find a way to criticize his basslines; It goes both ways. Funny ass cunning homosapiens I swear...

the worst thing by far in his productions, which i'd say, were otherwise stellar.

his arome guise was awesome.

now, if you'd have said flutlicht had the best melodies, you'd have a point.

Although I liked the left one, I still LOVE the right one, so IMO, no Scott is not the best at all, I wouldn't call anyone the best:

Don't really want to fight but i would say pioneering 2 genres major genres , hard trance, and hardstyle is more than most could say. Probably 10 producers in EDM could claim to have done that. Scot Project being one of them.

in 2000, hard trance was the new thing, in 2004, it was hardstyle. And they all pretty much stem from his 1999-2000 tracks.

He was a fantastic producer, his melodies were great but his form was what stood out but i think that perhaps it is a layer of understanding people don't seem to get or notice. A lot of what system j said is true, he had long breakdowns. Wagner had long operas. But he was influential and when he released thunder in paradise , firewire and F, everything changed overnight.

If you are not trolling, i don't mind picking a track, breaking it down for you in a way that is somewhat easy to understand even if you don't produce and show why so many producers were influenced by his work.

I've always had a soft spot for this track.



L4C, can you please break down why it's so awesome.
