Solution to sleep well???

Hey I have a question for you! What do you do when you don't find your sleep? I have sometimes that problem, and when it happens I spend a horrible night trying to get some sleep but sleep doesn't come. Maybe you have a miraculous solution! give it to me!

Dear Caroline, some tips:

-Go out for a walk
-Listen to some soft music while in bed
-Take a warm bath
-Get a massage
-Drink warm milk
-Drink herbal tea
-Eat a bedtime snack
-Avoid caffeine, alcohol and tobacco
-Sleep on a good firm bed
-Sleep on your back
-Get some physical exercise
-Keep regular bedtime hours
-Get up earlier in the morning
-Avoid short naps during the day
-Avoid irritating electric alarm clock lights
-Don't watch TV or read before going to bed

Other option (for Dutch people)

-Smoke a joint, use some GHB

Don't think you're not gonna fall asleep, cause if you think you're not gonna fall asleep, you're not gonna fall asleep.

aha..don't think to much...just go to sleep.

I listen to Goa Trance and try to blank my mind and concentrate on the beat. It makes me woozy fast enough. Or just try a sleeping tablet if your having a real hard time.

This whole sleeping thing is one of my major problems too. Sometimes my day and night sleeping routines switch for long periods of time.

Like I said...don't think you're not gonna fall asleep. That's the key.

Howmany times your mind starts having a ball when you wanna sleep?? ALL the time??? So just don't give in.

Guess you guys don't take me serious. But I had my own sleeping problems and this is really helpfull. If you catch yourself thinking...then you know...you are gonna have a hard time to fall asleep. So if that occurs...try not to think. Forget that stuff you were thinking about, don't give it time or energy to grow in your mind...

Don't think you're not gonna fall asleep...just go to sleep

Your right, i have the same problem, i think to much when i try to go to sleep, and i'll end up laying in my bed for 3 hour before i fall to sleep, but it's hard for my not to think, the only well know way for me to do that is to get drunk before i go to sleep.

..Try telling yourself...DON'T THINK.

Really just tell your self...so you can hear your own voice...

Easyer said then done

Luckly i'm unemploid right now, but when i used to work it was a real problem for me... on avarage i would get 3-4 hours of sleep on work days, in the weekend i would sleep for 12 hours straight.

And sleeping for 12 hours straight just made it harder to fall a sleep on sundays, so i kinda got into a very bad cirkel getting less and less sleep during the week.

Just don't think about or try to fall asleep. Just lay down and read or something or listen to music. You'll eventually fall asleep.

My thoughts exactly. A couple of shots of nyquil helps too but dont plan on waking up for a few of days.

I throw on my headphones and listen to some chilled/ambient CDs such as "Chilled Euphoria". Wait...that's how I get to sleep most of the nights anyway

Im so lucky! I have the perfect solution to any sleep problems. My totally gorgeous, loving husband. Anytime I have a problem falling asleep, he helps out with a massage, a hot bath, making me a cup of herbal tea, or tires me out with incredible sex, that really works!

Posted by Arbiter on Sep-25-2002 00:16:

This is a huge problem for me, because I have Non-24-hour Sleep Phase Syndrome. In essence, my body does not operate on a 24-hour clock, but instead a clock that seems to be approximately 28-hour. The result is that if I don't carefully monitor my sleeping patterns, I'll stay up three or four hours later every night and quickly put myself in a problematic situation.

I have yet to find a reliable solution to this problem. Personally, I usually just stay up all night if I can't sleep. That way, it will be very easy to get to sleep early the next night.

Best of luck,

Arbiter

i second that

What works for me is clearing my mind, just do not think, dont think of your day dont think of tommorrow, just clear your mind. I try to visualize this by closing my eyes and seeing black or an infinite white room with me in the middle. The white room like that in the matrix scene of the computer simulation. Actualy, the white room idea made me fall asleep and have a crazy dream where i was chasing around this bad guy and shot him from a few buildings away. Dreams are wierd.
