Warning : Videotron Users
starting from the 1st of october , there are going to be transfer limits to ALL THE CUSTOMERS (and not only to those who had a Motorola modem) even if you have a DOCSIS modem (like the samsung). the limit is 6gig in download and 5 gig in upload , if you transfer more than that they will charge you 7,95$+tx for each gig (wether it's download or upload) 
that sucks big time because i'm under a 12 months commitment crap and i own the modem
Well I'm glad to see that Sympatico High Speed is no longer the only one with a limit. I'm stuck with 5gb up/5gb down a month.

in a oligopoly situation, clients are always losing...

canadian ISPs suck majorly
I use ISTOP. www.istop.com I think they are in most of Ontario and Montreal. It's DSL just like Sympatico @ $30 dollars a month if you own a modem (get one off ebay)
They do have a 15gig limit but I'll never blow that. You can also buy more up front and save $$ if need be.
and the worst thing is : i can't sell my modem to someone (unless i scam him) because the current promotion of videotron is : free modem on a 12 months contract

their offices are in toronoto
they have a thick chinese accent. what do you need tech support anyways??? just plug in the modem, dial and that's it...
i bust 30 gigs per month transfer every month.. But I knew about videotron capping ul for a while now... Solution? net100.ca offers unlimited bandwich plus 3 Mbit speed at only 69$/month.... In California, a similar service (according to a local friend) costs 150 USD>.. so yeah.. moo?
are you hooked with net100 ? how's the connection? max speeds down/up ?

I'm not hooked with it yet, but I'm strongly considering it... and I mean STRONGLY (it's the best for the price, on paper...)
primus is alright except the fat rate of 45$+tx a month... ( normal rate)
and how do you know for sure net100 is good? on paper it always look good 
ya im really looking to get rid of rogers cable.. i fucking hate it.. id love a good recommendation on a cheap fast dsl.

WHAT DO YOU RECOMEND????
first of all the cap has been under effect for longer than 18 months with the motorola modem...u can ask my friend's bro who has been bills of over 100 bux a month due to his 100gb downloads every month...
he bought the samsung modem to avoid this and they have been tracking certain parts of the network for the past 3 months...and thats the reason some of you havent heard of this til now....
if anyone has a modded x-box (like me) this sux because halo for example was 3.8 gigs...
