probably best not to miss them if its that bad, i nearly got kicked otu for skiving when i was at college!

Why did you promise not to skip? I skipped months last year Though in the end, it wasnt a good idea.

Why do you bother going to school at all if you can't stand a single week without skipping a class?

Quit school and get a job that you want instead.

hehe, i know. but its not like i skip all the time, its just that i know i can't skip, all week, and every class is borring. its like, watching martha stuart, make sented candels for 18 hours a day.

I can count on my finger the times I've skipped classes during the high school. Well, in most times, this very hot girl invited me to skip classes with her, what was I supposed to do?

Teachers are not that hot

I've yet to attend a full week of college I neeed to start going. Anyone wanna help me get motivated?

I'm skipping Math at the moment. hehe

Well damn it it's not fair. Uni & College were designed for skipping. Reading lists, online assignments, no attendance (although some colleges do that - big middle finger to Durham for that one). They're trying to make you do it, I swear.

Cheers,
Fats

HAAHAH

I just Graduated Durham in Oshawa man!! Well last year.
I thought it was pretty easy to skip there.... what program are you in?

Posted by skaborough fats on Sep-24-2002 19:03:

Public Relations/Communication

Don't get me wrong, I skipped every sescond/third class. It just pisses me off that I lost marks just 'cuz I wasn't sitting in class not paying attention. You'd think the teachers would appreciate me going to my buddies to smoke instead of sleeping in class.

I've since graduated.

Cheers,
Fats

It doesn't count as skipping if you have a medical excuse, so just tell her you're suffering from a severe case of Degenerative Interest Disorder.

Attending class is for chumps. I don't even go to my class where the prof takes attendance.

Just go to class put on your headphones and shut your eyes. Just because you go to class doesn't mean you have to pay attention or learn anything.

Well if you understand the material you're supposed to be reading then it's not crucial you go to the lecture (I think, it's there just to help clarify, add to the stuff you're reading). But if you skip constantly regardless, then what's the point? Why are you paying the $$$$ if you're not going to be there? Might as well get something out of it. (and yes I have skipped, just not constantly)

For that piece of paper you get at the end. I would have thought that much was obvious.

Doesn't skipping class lead to failing class? I know at my school its policy to drop you grade a full letter for every 7 days you miss, and fail you if you miss 15. Even if you've done all the work(exceptions for serious medical conditions etc.)

This varies a lot from place to place unfortunately. Where I went to high school you could miss as much class as you wanted as long as you were there for tests and did all your assignments, so I usually missed two days a week. A lot of my friends down here who went to high school in VA had serious restrictions on absences, though.

What you can always do, though, is find a doctor willing to diagnose you with depression (which cannot be proven one way or the other). In most cases, students with depression are "encouraged to attend school to what extend their medical condition permits." This is pretty much a self-limit, which gives you all the freedom you want. My brother didn't attend a day of school for two years, took his tests at home, and posted a 4.0 GPA for those years using this method.

Wow. Ive been diagnosed with depresion for years. Now to convince my parents.

In High School I'd go to school, but once attendance was taken my friends and I would go to the bathrooms, use our cell phones and check each other out. That way it doesn't officially count, but you need a note. And if the only notes the front office has ever received are in your friend's handwriting, then how are they to know the difference between forged and fake lol. The entire senior class would be gone by lunch and the office could do nothing to prove we wern't all home sick or at funerals or some shit, hehehehe... I mean hell, the valdictorian of my class missed more days of school than anyone in the grade!

College on the other hand did not take nearly as much thought. I'd just simply go to the first 5 minutes of class, write down my assignments and head tha fuck out the door. I didn't even know my damn proffessor's names! I passed my clsses and shit, but I was getting high pretty much every day during class. If I went to class it was normally high and with headphones of some trippy music, lol.

School was pointless for me. But then, that may be why I'm going into music instead of a career in teaching heheheh....

I skipped many other classes and always got away with it I paid my price for it for always having a 50% or 51% final in a class
