Guv site says the first 100 have this price - but I question that - you'd figure 100 would have sold by now?

I will try to get tix tomorrow

Artem, I will let you know if I got it or not

Emaster and Hordash let me know if you guys wanted to come as well?

Posted by Durafei on Sep-25-2002 00:51:

Damn.. october is a full month..
picotto, corsten, sasha
to me the choice is clear: corsten.

can't afford to travel to TO every single weekend

Posted by Endlesswave on Sep-25-2002 01:27:

Corsten/Seaman and Sasha it looks like for me. And Picotto. Too much $$$ damn it. $35 is the most I would spend for a party. MAYBE more...depends on how much I want to go. I mean for Pvd last year in Feb I shelled out $32. And was well worth it.

Posted by jon jon on Sep-25-2002 03:24:

Thanks for the headsup Swamper, I just bought my tickets.

Ok a few issues to address..

(1) Corsten over Sasha? I'm sorry man you have to give your head a shake. 9/10 times Sasha blows Corsten out of the water.

(2) 35$ a rip off? Obviously you weren't one of the many that paid 55$ to see S&D at Kool Haus last time. Sasha is arguably the best dj in the world, 35 to see that talent is fair. And btw I only paid 25, which is a lot cheaper than I've paid for some parties.

(3) I agree with ya swamper, there has to be more than 100, as if.

(4) Lets get a roll call going!

it doesnt matter how good sasha is at mixing, if u dont like prog, u wont like sasha

Of course mixing is a factor, but there are many other elements as to why Sasha is better than Corsten. No offence against Ferry, I'm merely stating the obvious.

(1) Track Selection
(2) Persona / The legend that is 'Sasha'
(3) Experience
(4) Diversity (breaks, tribal, progressive and trance, we are talking about the man behind Xpander)
(5) Album Sales

Flec, just out of curiosity, have you seen Sasha live? Of course Durafei was just stating his opinion, I just have a hard time seeing it.

Posted by Flec on Sep-26-2002 00:27:

unfortunatly no i havent, i have seen diggers tho

once again if you dont like prog how is his track selection better? same goes for your diverstity factor

so 2 of your factors are based purely on weather or not you like the type of music he is spinning

album sales dont mean anything to me really, danny d probably has huge sales as well ( i dont know the #'s)

experiance - they both have enough to be rendered godly :P

and then - Persona / The legend that is 'Sasha' <-- now this is interesting, yes it makes total sense to go see sasha just because of his legendary status and top dj ranking, however he comes back to TO pretty often and if u truly love the dutch style of trance that armin/ferry/(old)tiesto and now gielen spin then you/i would probably rather go to see corsten

i saw digweed, he was ok at best, why? cuz i dont like prog, if you saw him im sure you would have said he was amazing

its all a matter of what kind of music you like

Posted by LKD on Sep-26-2002 02:11:

fuck that....32??? i payed 32 to see infected mushroom and armin....

id love to see sasha but fuck 32 bucks

Well, well, well. I'm surprised you're being this stubborn even up until now. You do realize that Sasha isn't just a progressive dj. When was the last time you gave the GU Ibiza cd a listen? And believe me, he hasn't changed that much. Diggers is usually the progressive component when they play together. While Sasha tends to be more elemental and trance oriented. Airdrawndagger is being critized for being too abstract and melodic, doesn't sound like progressive to me?

So you're gonna hide behind 'matter of opinion'. I guess you're right to a certain degree. If you think Sasha doesn't spin trance then maybe you should re-evaluate the definition of trance. Does it have to be epic breakdowns and super synths followed by vocals?

Well whatever, you're pretty dead set on telling me that Corsten is far superior to Sasha which in my opinion is an absolute farce. Corsten couldn't tie Sasha's fucking shoes sober. Sasha is a legend for a reason little kid, and one of these days when you see him live you'll fucking thank me cuz I told it to you years before hand.

The $35, thats right $35 (not $32) is well worth seeing the most impressive and innovative dj in the world. He is worth double that, and trust me scalpers will get that when this event sells out. Ok well I'm done, go back and listen to your fucking trumpets.

Jon

P.S You fucked up on...
- diverstity
- weather
- danny d (that btw completely blew any credibility you had)
- experiance

Alright...before I say anything, I'll make one thing clear. I prefer Sasha over Corsten. I prefer Sasha over a lot of DJ's. Him, Digweed, Seaman, PvD...I can't think of anyone else at the moment that I respect more.

Now, onto my point. Music is all about taste. Sasha, although not progressive, is also not trance. You can't classify him into any one specific genre. Yes, the man is a legend, and rightfully deserves that title.
But his accomplishments mean shit if someone's taste's don't go for that style of music. Is that hard to understand? For you and me, of course we're gonna talk about how awesome he is, and, some people, you being a prime example, will be "shocked" and even maybe insulted, when somebody tells you that they don't wanna go see Sasha because they don't like him, or in their opinion he sucks. His accomplishments, along with Digweeds, meant jackshit to me until I started liking their music. Sure, I had some respect for them, I mean you don't get #1 DJ of the year for no fuckin reason, but I couldn't take more than 15 minutes of any of their sets, cause as some would say, I didn't "understand" it. People don't listen to a certain person/DJ because of their fame, or because of their legendary status...if their music doesn't do anything for you, then you won't like it and thus going to see someone that plays the music you don't like would be pointless, wouldn't it? Of course, for me and you, seeing Sasha live will be one of those moments to remember...but that doesn't mean it's like that for everyone. Stop being so arrogant, like so many "prog-heads" seem to be these days, claiming that progressive is superior to trance. And also try to refrain from using terms like "little kid"...have some respect, just cause he doesn't like Sasha doesn't make him "lower" than you

And I doubt that in a few years, once his tastes look for newer, more diverse sounds, when he see's Sasha, he'll be thanking you get your head out of your ass

And GU013 isn't trance...its more than that, its more diverse.

And yes, I do think $35 is a bit of a rip-off, I do know how amazing this man is...but $35 is pushing it a little bit. Like I said, I'm still gonna go see him, and get GU009 and Airdrawndagger signed, hopefully And no, I wasn't one of the lucky ones to shell out $55 for their Delta Heavy show...although I wish I did

I never said i liked trance better, i never said i liked corsten better, i never said corsten was a better dj, all i said was why someone would choose corsten over sasha

btw, infinity highs post is dead on

Hmm... being a relatively new Sasha fan, I need something to convince me to go see him... someone name a good liveset of his to download

Posted by beatjunkie on Sep-26-2002 13:26:

Thumbs down Sasha

Sasha - Airdrawndagger = Ambient

I am going to get flammed for sure, but I think he is the most over-rated DJ in the world. Sure he is flawless on the Decks, but figure in all elements that a DJ is supose to be judged on?

Track Selection - Shit
Crowd Friendly - Too fucked up to know where he is half the time
Mixing - Flawless
Reason he is famous - Digweed

I know there are a lot of Sasha fans out there.... but hey its just my opinon. I don't think he is Trance or Progressive. And the 3 reasons I won't go see him at Kool Haus are

1. $$$ Give me a break
2. Didn't impress me in April at all
3. I know whos comming the weekend after

Posted by mute79 on Sep-26-2002 13:58:

Thumbs up

Sasha - Airdrawndagger is a masterpiece

'nuff said

Posted by PVD_S11DJ on Sep-26-2002 14:23:

I think most all of Sasha's productions have been top quality, wheras I find most of Ferry's productions pretty cheezy and too 'anthemy'. I could see that if you were a fan of big buildup/snare roll/super melodic trance, you'd obviously prefer Ferry's style, but in my opinion, Sasha stands alone in his talent as a producer and overall incredible DJ. Definitely see him spin live before you make a true judgement on him.

Posted by beatjunkie on Sep-26-2002 14:37:

IF you are talking to me ^^^^

I've seen him twice....
He was allright the first time. Actually good the first time, but that was like 2 or 3 years ago, anything latley he has produced, spun (live or compilations) have not impressed me at all.
If you can reccomend a set that would change my opinion I am all ears, the last set I have heard thay I liked from Sasha was Love Parade form 2 years ago.
