I find it very suprising that people found the french accent sillier than scandinavian ones. The french have the lovelyest accents!

This however is totally not surprising.

Haha yes I'm not the only one that thinks Dutch / Dutch accent is fucking hilariously bizarre. I actually think it is one of the ugliest-sounding languages I know. Sorry Dutch people!

Some Canadians have hilarious accents (Cannucks from Newfoundland, Cape Breton, New Brunswick or Quebec) but the rest of us sound normal... (an argument could be made that Brampton Ontario residents also have funny accents..... ha ha ha inside joke)

I find most yanks outside jersey or NYC have pretty normal accents too.... but once you cross that mason dixon line and head south that american accent goes full retard and fast.....

Well obviously you think you sound normal. There's a ton of different accents in the US from the north.

I don't know, I haven't had much interaction with Canadians that hail from more rural parts of the country, although yes I do hear there are some funny accents out there. But Dutch, as a whole, is just hilarious.

It sounds lovely on women. Apart from the one I know you already have in mind, there was this French philosopher who once appeared on Philosophy Bites and it was so cute I could barely pay attention to what she was actually saying (it was quite interesting though).

As for the Scandinavian accents, it all depends on the language, really. Swedish and Danish sound incredibly different... Danes hate consonants, and Swedes sort of speak Italian for people who don't speak Italian

Amsterdam Dutch is so cute! It's one of my favourite languages!

Uitstekend! Neus! Heel goed!

Excellent! Nose! Very good!

Guess you meant Heus! like Really! or Definitely! as the N is near the H.

Smile Tongue

^That or he's referring to Rotterdam.

Posted by Lira on Jul-23-2013 21:25:

No, no, I really love the Dutch word for nose! You know, with that little glide at the end? Neus! I can't explain but I get a real kick out of saying the vowels in Dutch. If there's also "Heus" than that's my new favourite word too.

Heuse goed!

Also, what about Rotterdam? The only two accents I recognise are Amsterdam and non-Amsterdam Dutch, even though I know I'm lumping a bunch of different accents/dialects together

Having Hebrew as my first language allows me to pronounce Dutch words quite easily and accurately, but I still find it ugly-sounding.

Do you consider Israel to be part of Europe?

Posted by Lira on Jul-24-2013 02:53:

Hell, I wouldn't count Europe as part of Europe! Let's be honest with ourselves: Europe is just West Asia, and it gets to be a continent because people who named the continents lived there

Even the vowels? That's what makes Dutch super lekker for me.
