Controlling Traktor using Allen & Heath xone 92 mixer
Hi guys,
So, I know it can be done using HID Mode on a djm 850, 900 and 2k but is there a way to control Traktor using just your laptop and a xone 92?
if any of u can help out, i'd appreciate it.
thanks,
jon
i really dont know but since xone 92 pretty much is made for this type of use id start with reading the manual of xone 92 and traktor. then google is your friend - it will lead you to forums discussing this.
heres one: http://www.native-instruments.com/f...ad.php?t=166237
no, it's not possible as the mixer does not have a digital interface (unless they added one for newer models but I don't think so). And thank God for that, if I may say so.
it seems it can be done with an xone 92, according to the post clay made over at the NI forums. it just won't show on traktor.
in any case, the only reason why im asking is bc the setting at the venue where i'll be at is like that so i need to adapt, otherwise i can't play.
does the mixer needs to be connected via usb to the mac or not?
again i really do not know but im positive it needs to be connected via usb, so that u use the xone92s soundcard (if i remember it has inbuild soundcard). then you must "loop" the soundcard outputs into separate channel inputs using RCA, and then map midi somehow in traktor. read the manual basically.
edit: wait a second. does it even have USB? i might mix up with xone 2d/1d - the midicontrollers. what you are trying to do probably wont work without a dedicated midicontroller after all. i thought 92 had that, but doesnt seem so.
It only has MIDI, and that only sends a few controls from the mixer so whilst you can kind of do some control essentially the answer to your questions is no.

its not a noob question actually, i really thought it had USB but it doesnt, it only has oldschool midi output (5pin). sux. this can be connected to your PC via a USB-midi-device or a dedicated USB soundcard with MIDI included (most have that). Maybe the traktor soundcard have MIDI 5pin input? I dont know, if not you need a midicard. This is getting quite a stupid setup though, id just get a proper midicontroller instead like Xone 1d/2d or maybe one of the other traktor devices listen on their website. the midi in 92 seems really limited and oldschool probably just to control a simple hardware filter or delay wet/dry knob (or other efex). Not for traktor.
thanks clay, i was thinking about this... i have traktor pro 2, is it possible for a set up like this one to work properly:
2 x cdjs 2k
1 a&h xone92
1 x1
1 x audio 8
what do u guys think?
Get 1200's.
End thread/

if you already have a 1200 then its of course fine to use as timecode source/midi controller, but to be fair it is the most unreliable source of midi-signals ever so if your planning on building up a dj booth from scratch using traktor (scratch, lol - lets see who got it) it makes no sense getting 1200's as it would be the most expensive, the least exact, and least functional midicontroller of all time. all that mechanical machinery just to adjust pitch on a mp3? lol. but yeah if you already have 1200 from vinyl days you might just as well use it in wait of something better. as he can do with his cdj2000 (only a bit more functional). again you dont know fuck about what you talk about.
edit: wait a second, i think i know what you mean. 1200 sounds better right? rofl.
Who said anything about timecode?
