Was "for an angel" a gift?
Just wondering... who's the angel from "for an angel"? Did Paul van Dyk write it thinking of someone or he just felt like giving a cute name for that track?
Stupid question, but you come up with lots of them when you're bored
f0xy should know this one
It's for the Angel in Berlin...the statue around where the Loveparade is held...thats what it's for
JP did a nice post about this a while ago...try searching for it

The story about the Gold Else, Loveparade, For an Angel?
For an Angel is the unofficial anthem for all Loveparades. It's a tribute to the Loveparade ravers.

Gold Else, on top of the Victory Column, is the centre of the event. She is the guardian of the event. So that is why Paul van Dyk dedicated this song to that angel.
She is also a symbol of freedom. PVD, being East-German, understands off course the importance of liberty...
That is why For an Angel is such a damn good song. Not only very well made, it has a deeper meaning. Trance has a lot to do with emotions, feelings etc. Off course many other songs carry a message (Such is life...), but this song reflects a whole movement, the Loveparade, Freedom etc etc
Amen!
JP
Btw: Natasha has nothing to do about it

and it's natasha not natalie

Cheers, jp
hehe, I always thought that "Meet her at love parade" by Da Hool was the love parade anthem
You learn something new everyday. Thanks for this bit of info. Makes PVD's song all the better.
As far as I know, meet her at the Loveparade was considered 'cheese' and never ever played by any DJ at the Loveparade since 1997.
Off course it was played many times at different trucks the past years.
Btw: The videoclip of meet her at the loveparade doesn't have pics of the loveparade. Just a girl on a truck driving over 'Unter den Linden' to Brandenburg Gate.
In all these years in Berlin I never ever went to the Siegessaule itself (you can normally climb to the top for a few euros and see Gold Else from close distance). I feel so ashamed!
I'll travel to Berlin in november and do it this time
omg... did jp tell u the Talla Story with the Bell?

The real story is, that a long time ago baby paul always dreamed of being a manufacturer of methematical stationary, ever since he was a young boy, sadly as he grow older he couldnt realise thsi dream, and had to settle for being a superstar DJ with millions of pounds. anyway one day he was in his studio, and he made some track, and he was stuck on a track name, completely, so he drifted off into a datdream about his dream job, "a ruler, for a straight line, a compass, for a straight linee, a protractor, for an angle" as if by meer coincidence he look at the paper and had wrote this down, he though "i know, ill call it for an angle!" but poor old paul wasnt very good at spelling, and when he sent off the demo to be pressed he spelt it wrong, like "angel". and now kids thats the story of for an angel.
The unbelievable story on how Talla 2XLC got his name
Andreas Tomalla (Talla 2XLC) lived in a house with other people. They arranged that by how many times someone ringed the doorbell, you could know who got a visitor.
After each name stood how many times they should ring:
Talla's name at the doorbell was followed by a sticker that said "2 X K" (2 X Klingeln = Ring)
It looked liked Talla 2XLC, because of the l and c.
People started calling him Talla 2XLC etc etc
