Who's at the top of the game?

Who do you think is at the top of the trance kingdom right now?
Corsten? AvB? Tiesto? PvD?
Lets see your votes and why!

Posted by speedracer_mec on Sep-26-2002 17:26:

Pvd has beeeeeen kicking major ass.
Armin has remained consistent as always.
Tiesto has said to be laggin...and he might be..cuz i heard one of his recent sets..and hmmmmm
Ferry...i dunno where he's hiding...and his ligaya trak was kinda weak
Matt darey would be on top...if he were dj'ing and released some of his new remixes he has and has been working on since jan.(HINT HINT 2003)

*edit*....Oakenfold- has beeen slamming killa sets lately...

*puts on flame retardant suit*

Flame all you want, I think Paul Oakenfold is back near the top. He's not throwing down the same cookie cutter sets every week, and he's not playing the same stuff everyone else is playing. Granted, he's just started playing Solarcoaster and Carrera 2, but check out some of his sets ... they are quite impressive as of late.

*stops, drops, and rolls*

PVD is out of his mind right now as well as keeping himself busy with other projects (i.e. Movie soundtracks), so he is spreading himself out more.

Armin has stepped up this year constructing seemingly an infinite number of remixes. That is work! Everywhere I turn, there is a new Armin mix out (Now PVD is catching on to that too!)

Tiesto has gotten some bad PR lately. I heard that he is thinking of changing his style a bit to reflect some more proggy styles of dance music...maybe he is on the outs in teh uplifting trance scene.

Ferry Corsten I don't follow too much, but he has been in the rotation this year

As for Oakenfold...I will take this to the grave! He is too much a showman than an artist. He is more concerned with the crowd(and not the way he should be). My best example of this which really put him in the dog house was his antics at Ultra 4 when he literally stepped in front of the decks and raised his hands in the air. If I am not mistaken, isn't the performance done behind the decks?!

My vogte as always sticks with the master! PVD

lol when he was here in houston....he just about humped the turntables..it was funny as hell..360 rotation..lol...anywayz pvd neeeds to release some of his remixes..

I'd have to say Ferry Corsten. A lot of people didn't like Ligaya, but a lot of people liked it a whole lot, so I guess it's one of those tracks that either does it for you or does nothing for you. Pocket Damage was also a very good track, and with East West - The Love I Lost finally seeing a release, and System F - Solstice being the new System F single, he is putting out a lot of quality productions.

Armin Simply because of the volume of stuff that's come from him this year. Armin "the hardest working man in trance" Van Buuren lol

Posted by TranceLuver4evr on Sep-26-2002 19:30:

I think Armin is on the top of everyone right now.............

Nice remixes and massive mixing skills

On the other hand..........PVD is still badass

Ligaya wasnt weak.. Ferry also did Love I lost.

Armin is obviously on form at the moment, comnpared to his relative popularity this time last year (he hadnt played at crasher for 2 years until dec 2001, he has now played 6 times since)

even peopel who dont like armin cant deny it, obviously tiesot is more popualr on an outstanding scale but hes jsut gone downhill compared to early 2001 by a depressing amount

Posted by George Kendall on Sep-26-2002 20:56:

Airwave is owning trance production atm.

Lolo - Melody/Sunset
Sunspot (with AvB)
Believe (His new album due next month)
Body Shock - Rock Dis House (with Yves De Ruyter)

No offense bro, but that is a stupid ass comment. Seen the Dutch Dimension video with Tiesto? He walks around well and jumps up and down well his tunes are playing. It's a DJ's job not to just play great music, but to get the crowd involved. And usually when the crowd sees that the DJ is having a great time, they respond well. Think Johan Gielen @ Trance Energy 2002 earlier this year. When he raised up a lighter during Lexicon 4 - Reach Me (Svenson & Gielen Remix), and 10,000 people raised their's too, it was magical. That's how trance should be. Just my opinion though of course.

seen paul play twice in 2 weeks and i hav to say he is kicking some major assage. He is for me top DJ this year without a doubt. This guy is great!

???? That's a stupid thing to say, things like that get the crowd going. And you don't have to stand behind the tables the whole night.

I've even got a pic of tiesto standing on top of the desk where the turntables were, inside a club...

Russo, I said the exact same thing as you 2 posts ago, and 4 hours earlier. Next time read the thread to make sure that no one else has said the exact same thing. DavidScott doesn't need 8 people to tell hm the same thing to get the point.

Bro, I just said the exact same thing 2 posts. Ago

Posted by elly on Sep-27-2002 01:00:

pvd is the man. too bad no recent livesets to listen 2
oakenfold is always the man who else can spin trance and throw in a little u2 or madonna for good measure.
tiesto well.... hes done better
sasha glad hes back in the game
armin consistent asot always good to listen to

And I don't need to know I said the same thing as someone else twice... especially when the same person is saying it both times

Posted by Dekan on Sep-27-2002 01:20:

PVD is a Constant always no ups or real downs, But he is boring as fuck to watch spin, has no energy when he plays in the states....

MARCO V is the one to Watch Sick Productions, new sound, ok mixing abilitys, he is gonna hit the states hard.

Johan was up there but after The Trance Addict Fiasco, he dropped quickly. Amazing Productions.... Thats about it

Oaky Sets Lately are damn good, reminds me of why i started of seeing him first....

Tiesto to repeative with his sets although he tore the roof off Space in the US, IF he comes back in October with a new Set He is the best....

Armin is busting his ass and getting rid of that cheesy vocal sound that he was spinning there for a while.. He getting up there...

Airwave SICK Production, havent heard anything live...

That makes no sense. If you read what I wrote, you obviously wouldn't have felt compelled to type exactly what I said.

DJing: Armin

Producing: Darren Tate

I was just joking with you!

I'm sorry I didn't read the whole thread before posting, it's not a big deal.

And when dealing with matters of subjective nature, the more people that comment and give their own view is better (even if it is identical to someone elses).

Posted by Devbert on Sep-27-2002 15:28:

It's not a big deal to me either. I just thought I'd give you the heads up on the situation.
