ID Contest 98 - Return of the Classics Strike Back
Trying to pique the interest of latent ID contestants (yes, I know you are one, come out and play!) I've gone back to 1999-2008 era with some quite easy ones, and some relatively easy ones.
Having played the game many times, I know that it's the easy ones that annoy you the most when you just can't name it, so I'm being mean on purpose. Whoops, I was trying to sell it and... forget what I just said.
Rules
since i'm trying to avoid doing some homework i'll play hehe.
lol i haven't heard some of these in so long haha
Aaand, I wanna say THIS IS another great classic Contest from GroundLine, very nice balance between easy and hard tunes.
So, see ya!

First scores!
To keep the momentum going I'll post scores early.
Points
Floorfiller 80p
DJ Tsunami 36p
My old nemesis Floorfiller starts strong with a 80p entry, averaging above one point per sample currently. DJ Tsunami still a bit behind, but this guy got most uniques in my last contest, so I would not count him out yet!
Uniques
Floorfiller 12
Seems like Floorfiller is the perfect man for blocking DJ Tsunami, leaving him without a single unique at this time. When more entries start showing up I'm betting this number will be heavily reduced.
When at least one more entry arrives I'll start posting the most ID'd lists. At this time it would tell you quite exactly who has ID'd what.
hahaha I really hope some people play because I don't wanna have to make a bunch of samples lol
.
come on guys this should be pretty easy. I don't even know this style of trance that well.
I'll be in, and I'm pretty sure I can beat 80, so you shouldn't need to worry. I'm sure the regulars will probably stomp me too though.
I'll probably send my list in later today.
Game on!
One new entry and an update on day 2, nice activity!
Points
physe 81p
Floorfiller 80p
DJ Tsunami 43p (+7)
DJ Tsunami improves his score a little, while physe barges in and lands at the top of the list, by one single point.
Uniques
physe 6
Floorfiller 5 (-7)
This list reflects the score changes quite well. physe again on top with one single unique.
Most fully ID'd
3 times: 1, 14, 28, 43, 53, 58
2 times: 3, 9, 11, 13, 18, 24 (+ 1 partial), 32 (+ 1 partial), 36, 48, 52
What will happen tomorrow? Another update, another entry or... silence? We'll see...
ok I'm gonna make you work a little harder than that. I got a few more points in me.

So do I. I should be able to get into the 90s somewhere. Don't try too hard or you may be stuck with the next contest. =)
Small breathing room!
Only one small change today.
Points
physe 86p (+5)
Floorfiller 80p
DJ Tsunami 43p
physe makes a preemptive attack to defend his position, but will it do?
Uniques
physe 10 (+4)
Floorfiller 5
With only fixes to existing ID's, physe manages to grab four new uniques.
Most fully ID'd
3 times: 1, 14, 28, 32, 43, 53, 58
2 times: 3, 9, 11, 13, 18, 24 (+ 1 partial), 36, 48, 52
Now we wait for Floorfiller's move. Or will someone else join the party?
I will have to wait until Friday or this weekend to get my next update in. Should be a solid update
There so many great tracks in here which ive totally forgotten about.
Physe I see you lurking. Be afraid, I'm reaching way back into the PLUR days of my mind for this next update
Only half lurking.
I have another update PMd to Groundline which will give me a fair boost. Unfortunately, I've exhausted all of the songs I have heard before so any further improvements from me will have to be from hints or pulling lyrics form the samples to get clues.
I'm not great at these types of games, but I enjoy playing them when they overlap with the songs I'm familiar with. Like I said earlier, I'm sure some of the veterans here could take me out quite handily. For now, I'll keep fighting and see how long I can hold onto the lead. =)
Nice! Yeah I never used to stand a chance in these things, but since people aren't playing as much I'm a little more competitive lol. More fun that way.
So it's currently a battle of second-tier ID contest participants then?
precisely.
The fight begins!
The top two battle it out, who wins this round? And a new challenger appears.
Points
Floorfiller 104p (+24)
physe 99p (+13)
Subtle 49p
DJ Tsunami 43p
Floorfiller takes this round with a heavy 24 point update, which physe could not match with his 13 point improvement. Subtle joins in taking the third spot with a small margin.
Uniques
physe 8 (-2)
Floorfiller 8 (+3)
Subtle 3
Floorfiller evens out the uniques with his major update, we're now tied at the top. Subtle also here takes the third spot.
Most fully ID'd
4: 14, 53
3+1: 1, 43
3: 3, 9, 24, 28, 32, 36, 48, 58, 71
2+1: 8, 13, 52, 64, 68
2: 10, 11, 18, 26, 29, 35, 39, 55, 57
I condensed the list, separating the ones with partial ID's to separate categories. Here we quite clearly can see which tracks are the real classics.
Floorfiller: You're going to have to do better than that. I've got more IDs coming.
hahaha. i have to admit I was hoping to blow you out with that update, but damn it!
i recognize plenty more...here's hoping i can come up with the names in the next month lol
I'm glad that at least some people are interested in it. I'll admit that it's a lot more fun when it's back and forth like this.
Enter Tier 1
A Tier 1 contestants enters the game, but will his first submission be better than the updated scores of our Tier 2 contestants? Let's see...
Points
Tresor7 137p
physe 125p (+26)
Floorfiller 104p
Subtle 49p
DJ Tsunami 43p
Yes. physe again passes Floorfiller by doing the ever so fruitful lyric trek, only to be poked down from the top slot by the most solid ID contestants of recent times: Tresor7. The margin is still not that big, so the game is everything but over!
Uniques
Tresor7 9
physe 5 (-3)
Subtle 3
Floorfiller 2 (-6)
physe and Tresor7 hit hard on Floorfiller's uniques, and physe also gets hit down a few pegs by Tresor7's devastating submission, which gives him a solid nine uniques! Subtle is amazingly spared from this slaughter.
Most fully ID'd
5: 14, 36, 53
4+1: 1, 43, 48
4: 3, 9, 18, 24, 28, 29, 71
3+1: 8, 15, 32, 64, 68
3: 2, 10, 11, 26, 34, 39, 55, 58
Completely un-ID'd
7, 12, 16, 37, 59, 62, 63, 66, 72, 73, 74, 75
Only 12 uniques left to grab! Get them before the hints start flowing (spare me the time of having to come up with hints...).
ugh.
alright i'll see what i can do this weekend
please no hints on the uniques yet. i think i got some of those. just need to think threw the names hehe...
I know three or four of the yet unidentified ones... i might enter just for the sake of it. Forgotten about most of the tracks in this contest though so no chance of winning. :P
edit: submitted after a brief listening. Too lazy too look up the mixes but at least i should grab a few uniques!
