I dont understand why most americans dont see that this whole war mess got started right as Bush's approval rating was plumeting again. Coincidence? Maybe but, then Iraq granted full access of facilities to UN weapons inspectors....yet bush still wants to attack.

ratings or not im behind bush because of the issues at hand.
fact: saddam has chemical and biological weapons and has used them on innocent civilians before
fact: saddam and his government have been seeking and have bought nuclear material for production of a bomb (as exposed by british intellegence.)
fact: al quida bases are in iraq as exposed by two palestians caught by israel in gaza who had recieved al-quida training in iraq. (osama-saddam-arafat link?)
fact: from 1992 until two weeks ago in 2002 saddam has defied all UN resolutions. now am i supposed to accept he has changed his ways? how blind and nieve can you be?
fact: saddam is satans son
My opinion: more innocent lives will be lost by keeping the status quo. the iraqi people are suffering and the world is under terroristic threat. better we go to war, put in a new regime and let the iraq people (all of them - kurds, sunni and all the rest) lead free, prosperious lives.

i belive saddam has to be gotten rid of as soon as possible.

ps. Az if you are personally going to attack my intellegence because i support bush on this matter and the fact that my opinion differs then you, then f*** off.

Yes, I've realized it too. It wasn't just his approval rating declining that started this war talking, the declining stock market also has a big impact on it. I've said this once and I'll say it again...the only reason why Bush is in office is to finish the job that daddy didn't finish when he was President. The only thing they're looking for now are lame reasons on why we should attack, only problem is that nobody is following along.

ya right, its americas policy to intentionally target and kill inocent civialians cant say that about saddam - scuds agianst israel in first gulf war.

yup and guess who didnt let Bush 1 do the job right the first time? it was the UN and europe who were screaming "overkill, overkill", but at the time everyone was blind to what can happen by letting terror fester and plan out attacks. US should have taken him out then and there... end of story.

Look, I'm against war and innocent victims, but tell me: What should the world do, if Iraq builds weapons of mass destruction in the next year?

I'm not trying to flame your point of view, I just want to hear any constructive ideas on how to deal with the (very real) threat of what a fanatical maniac like Hussein can do, if he has these weapons.

here we go again....

fact: Israel has chemical and biological weapons
fact: Israel has nuclear material and as much as 200 A-bombs and H-Bombs
fact: Sharon is a war criminal for his involvement in mass killings in lebanon... he was even condemned in Israel.
fact: from 1947 until 2002 Israel has defied 60+ UN resolutions which amount or are greater then the total of broken UN resolutions from all arab countries combiened...

how blind and naive can you be? or maybe you think we accept double standards?

fact: Israel is satans creation, well not...

My opinion: more innocent lives will be lost by keeping the status quo. the arab/jews people are suffering and the world is under terroristic threat from the American/Israel satanic alliance. better we go to war, put in a new regime and let the israel people (all of them - arabs, jews, christian and all the rest) lead free, prosperious lives.

i belive Sharon and his accolytes has to be gotten rid of as soon as possible.

here on TA freedom of speech is guaranteed... meaning as loong as you will post stuff that might be true, everyone in here will answer them back with other facts to counter them.... good luck

Also you can answer back intelligently or you can start bitching and transform this thread in a flame war.

my first post was obviously a sarcastic comment about the current situation... (yesterday Bush anounces that Al Qaeda is in Iraq )

but you have to be wrong if american? am i right?

i cant justify Bush or Sharon most of the time, but what you are all doing wont get anyone anywhere.

you all seem to believe that us US people have no idea the world is fucked up in certain ways. true, there are a large number of idiots in the US, but not generally on TA - yet you like to act that way. The US has acted justly and injustly in the past 100 years of history, but every country has done the same within and outside of the borders. and anyone that refuses to deny that is either lying to themselves or not involved politically in the wider scheme of things.

as much as everyone here likes to hate bush, and all of us you dont actually know in the US i want to pose a question thats a bit more philosophical -

What would happen to the state of the planet if the US just disappeared, or pulled out of world affairs entirely, no capital exports, no business outside the borders, and did not involve itself outside of the country?

im sure youd all like to believe that things would be vastly improved, but think about that logically and then respond|

OK, you're right about these issues; I agree.
However: Israel is a democracy, whereas Iraq is a bloody dictatorship.
Saddam Hussein has fought his own people, and poisoned them; he is a maniacal dictator.
In Israel, there are democratic elections, and people live freely and well.

cool, we can talk about israel as well :-D
i have nothing to fear cause i KNOW israel holds a higher moral ground then iraq does.

ok lets compare:

both USA, israel AND iraq have biological and chemical weapons. Only one of them has used them in a war, and that same country even used it agianst its own citizens!

both USA and Israel have nuclear weapons, only one has used them in a war (US not israel). furthoremore i belive if iraq acquires nukes it would not hesitate to use them (as evident by use of its other WOMD)

Sharon vs. Saddam - no court of law has ever convicted sharon of any wrong doings (dont forget it was a chirstian militia who committed the act), innocent until proven guilty. Saddam has a long history of assasinating any politcal rival as well as oppressing his own people.
In israel there is complete freedom of religion as well other the other basic freedoms (speech, press, etc), in palestine (under PA) or iraq those freedoms are nearly non-existant. israels government is voted upon by its own people.

now who's got the edge

sorry i had to keep this short i have some errands to run... weekend parties ahead!

Me too, I love politics.

Posted by davinox on Sep-27-2002 22:52:

dear god i hate middle east politics.

In one corner you have those Bush-bashers who rather America just sits on their asses and keeps giving them the Coca-Cola and Windows that they enjoy, and leave them be. Anything Bush says is dumb, because hes a dumbass. They shouldnt have bombed Afghanistan, and now they shouldnt go into Iraq. No questions asked.

Then you have the americans on the defensive, who then have to take a all-american all-bush or whatever stance.

there is no middle ground which is so stupid.

The struggles in the middle east is a no-win situation!!!

To all those who say we should have peace, how do you suggest we do it? Many times war is necissary. And to those who say war is the only option, you must look at others as well.

all of this Middle East tention would be so much easier if dumbasses wouldnt be so culturally proud, ignorant, and religiously brainwashed.

Posted by zzleeper on Sep-28-2002 00:14:

Read This!

1) Dont be FOOL people, do you REALLY THINK Bush actions are caused by his desire to make this a better world? YEAH RIGHT!

2) I agree Saddam is a son of a bitch.

3) US didn't CARED when Irak used chem weapons against Iran. They just use this argument in order to convince us.

4) Being a democracy IS NO JUSTIFICATION. Ok, the US bombs here and there, but HEY, it's a D-E-M-O-C-R-A-C-Y so it's ok, no?

5) In 1981? Irak was closer to get a A bomb than now. They tell us that he might be less than a YEAR close of making an atomic bomb. Well that's probably bullshit propaganda. Remember: Don't trust this "estimates" so blindly.

6) "Moral highground". I agree with that, but there is an important point that should be made.

When you have MORAL HIGHGROUND it doesn't mean that it's actions are always more "acceptable". Eg: Israel does this, Irak does that, but Israel has a higher moral ground so it's more acceptable what Israel has done.

The truth is that if you are a civilized democracy (Israel, US, Europe), you are EXPECTED to act more FAIR and JUSTLY. WE AS A WORLD expect MUCH BETTER ACTIONS FROM Israel than from IRAK. When we critizice Israel or America, we are not putting these countries in the same package as Irak.

Just remember that... (my 2 cents)

1) True. The wars agains Iraq and Afghanistan have economical (and political background)

2) hehe, Saddam and Bush must be brothers, since they both have the same mother

3) Actually (as far as I remember), US supported the use of Iraqi chem. weapons

4) China is not a democracy, will Bush bomb them? Of course not, he's not the smartest person in the world, but he's not crazy either.

5) Come on, even Brazil (together with the US and some European countries) were helping Iraq with their nuclear programme till the Gulf War... now nobody supports them, where did all this sudden know-how come from?

6) Mate, don't be fooled by democracy. It may be better than dictatorship in most cases, but it's not perfect. Besides, I'd rather be ruled by a wise dictatorship than be part of a weak democracy. Obviously, it's a bit hard to find such wise leader

In my opinion, neither Sharon, nor Bush nor Saddam, nor Arafat are saints... However, I'd rather overthrow Sharon than Saddam, because of several reasons that most of you probably know already (if not, just quote this paragraph, ask "why" and I'll answer )

Good to see that this thread seems far from becoming a flame war
