some obscure progressive trance track from '98

this... is a fucking BOMB! awesome find!!

need to get my hands on a copy, seems like low quality recording, even though the mp3 is 256? you can hear it hiss at the start and has a tinny feel.

great build to a tribal/acid frenzy with some nice platipus-like organic trippy sounds thrown in for good measure, also has a bit of a gamemaster vibe going on

looks like it was only available on vinyl, and my vinyl recording abilities are shit to say the best

obscure, correct enough. dang it! who can help?

yeah I need to step up my recording game.

Just wondering, was surprised your using a scratch needle. It sounds really congested near the end. I've still been using Shure Whitelabels for 10 years and looking to upgrade.

i've been using shure whitelabels for years too. my recordings are still crap though. they sound tinny, maybe wrong eq settings, and there is a ground loop hum or whatever in the recordings too

this is one of those tracks that sounds like its trainwrecking the entire time

Ah Memnon. A really underrated trance producer from the US.
Here's another good track by him:

For sure, really like his mix of BT - Godspeed...thought it was much better than the original.


Both tracks posted are dope though, liking the second one a lot.

I kinda see what you mean. The first minute does sound like it's tripping over something. I'll have to mix the track and see what's up then.

The first minute is not the problem. It's the percussion loops that come in after that - they don't feel like they're keeping tight timing to the main rhythm. This is a challenge producers used to face on old gear, but some were better than others at being meticulous and keeping stuff very tight. As a DJ nothing annoys me more than a track that sounds slightly out no matter what you mix it with and no matter which way you nudge it.

The track itself is very nice.

Understood. I forgot to mention that I have a promo copy. Maybe that's why the track sounds a bit choppy, or maybe not. I tested out the transitions by mixing in and out of the track. It was probably irrelevant for me to do so.
