this is how you test to see if your roommate goes in your room when you're not home

Step 1: Buy double fudge chocolate cookies from bakery.

Step 2: Count how many there are after you've eaten a few.

Step 3: Leave box in exposed area of your room.

Step 4: Go to work.

Step 5: Return home and count cookies.

If you don't have the amount of cookies you counted before you left for work after you come home, your space has been compromised.

PS. Take picture of cookies before you go to work to counter any arguments that you miscounted the cookies.

You've gone too far. That's just homicidal and weird man...

Boo this man

Very true.
Tie them up in the bathtub or shower, put a dishcloth or towel over their face and waterboard them until they admit to it... or admit to damn near anything if you keep doing it.

As soon as I saw Lilith's name as the most recent poster in this thread that things were going the right way.

Why go so far?

All you need to do is place things in specific ways and remember how you place them. Also, lick a strand of hair and place it over where the door and door frame meet. If it is missing, someone entered the room or opened the cabinet. This can be done with doors, chests, cabinets, etc.

All this roommate talk is not common around here, so I need to ask: Why the hell don't you have locks!? Moreover, why on Earth are you even living with someone you don't trust... and without locks? O.o

Pretty much anywhere I've ever lived, share houses/flats don't have locks on each person's room. External locks on the house/doors/windows, yes, of course... not on each bedroom though.

As far as trust goes, I wouldn't move into a place with other people if I didn't get some kind of good vibe from them...

...oooh wait... I actually did that more than I care to think about, with varying outcomes

I had great roommates until my last and he was a straight up criminal but he was an excellent liar. Unfortunately the two usually go together. If a roomate steals from you the best you can do is kick him out even that can be difficult depending on your local laws. This guy stole personal checks went through my mail, etc. All of which is next to impossible to prove in a court of law. Bottom line you are vulnerable if your roommate wants to take advantage there is always opportunity. Most of the time it's small shit like muching food.

No need after you do this a few times.

Actually, I don't really know as I've owned my house for 12 years now and for half of that it was mostly just me there. Now its full of kids, the SO and I can't get up to nearly as much of the crazy shenanigans as I used to, but that's mostly due to the fact I can't really drink worth a damn any more

The thirties. Much like the twenties, but more cruel

or you could pay 40 $ and get a wifi camera that is motion sensored. Or a 10 $ webcam attached to your computer and write a script that logs when there is movement with an app like evo cam.

With SD card option, so you don't need a pc.
This one also is pretty cool, especially I you have a tree in your room:

Posted by Looney4Clooney on Oct-11-2013 21:06:

i have 6 that cover ever entry and anything of value. Don't have roomates but I can view them anywhere and they are set so that when I leave , any motion sends an alarm to my phone with a frame of what triggered it.

SD is good for the OP' intention although I think just asking and setting boundaries is probably all you need to do. I mean if it comes to having to get a camera, i would say you need to find new accommodations. `i have both SD storage and then send everything to a FTP storage site and a local storage unit as well.
