Whatever happened to doing it just for fun?

Very true, but I believe that the business back bone of it is what made a lot of legendary artists who they are today. I did mention that some people do choose to take the path as a hobbyist and that's fine. It's great if they just want to do it for fun. However, I strongly believe that if you wish to grow yourself... a lot of the important business aspect will be involved. Not full on business, but at least understand some of the concepts of it, take for example... being able to sell your self, leadership practice, taking the initiative to move forward, so on and so forth. There's a lot of traits that I want to highlight and touch up on that I feel would be real good as to artist development.

Thanks for your feedback, highly appreciate it.

I wonder if used car lots ever worry about people like you.

So basically fans = commodities, right? It's sad to think that these people are your "fans" when they are just part of the deal.

thinly veiled attempt at plugging your own website?

Posted by upinsmoke01 on Oct-10-2013 14:20:

Well of course I'm part of the website. I research self-improvement & develop success systems and coach people, that is part of my job. Every day business concepts can be applied to your every day life... is what I'm trying to say. For example, the study of "finance", it can really help you make a lot of critical decisions in your life. Am I wrong or not?

If you guys actually read the first article. I mentioned..

"They say money is not the most important thing in this world, but everything that is important, requires money. You can't do what you love to the fullest if you have no money."

Understanding that would lead you to so many other topics under the category of business.

I still believe these articles make very valid points, especially if a group of friends get together and start a promotion crew, start a DJ group, or chooses to pursue being a DJ/producer full-time.

Without the business aspect of EDM, there would be no big festivals, no big night clubs to book these artists, no record labels, no world tours! Without business, the spread of music wouldn't be possible.

Thanks for your feed backs, please keep them coming. Highly Appreciate it.

Don't hate on the guy... I think the Facebook post is very valid in terms of setting up your fan page/images to have a 'professional' look. It's just sad that these days so many ppl buy likes or followers... when I see people come out of nowhere and within a month have 40k likes I scratch my head.

Posted by upinsmoke01 on Oct-11-2013 02:03:

thanks for the feed back, means a lot to me.

And yes, even if these people chose to buy likes, it won't be as effective when you are actually trying to promote something.

Whats the point of running promotional campaigns if all 40 thousand of your viewers are fake? On top that, the way Facebook algorithm is set up, only about 50-100 out of that 40k will see what you post. It will take a lot of activity for the post to be seen by majority of your followers.

Thats why "reach" is a way better metric then "likes", you can have 40k fake likes, but whats the point of running promos if all the people that sees it are fake?

Hopes that little bit of info helps people
