Matt Darey

I've recieved a whole bunch of old trance & house vinyl and just from going through it, there seems to be a lot of remixes by Matt Darey. I haven't heard of him in the last 2 years, does anyone know what happened to him? He seems pretty much a pioneer of today's current trance sound.

yeah he's gone pretty quiet over the last year or so .. he had a new track out not long ago (can't remember for the life of me what it was called though.....)

shame, he really is one of the best trance producers imho

armin van buuren spins matt darey - moody in his show lately, that's an absolutely wicked track! dunno if you mean that one webmeister, but i would love to get my hands on that one

Long live Matt Darey! OK, here's the rundown. Basically Matt went production crazy during 1998-1999. Some of these tunes were released in 2000 (eg Delerium - Heaven's Earth). Basically, he'd had enough and so went off to Ibiza to smoke pot for two years.

However, you can't do nothing for two years and not get bored, so he's back in the studio once again. He's produced two new songs, the first one is called Moody (quite similiar to Warrior - If you want me IMO) and another with Marcella Woods called U Shine On.

Nothing as good as his older stuff (Blockster - Grooveline, Planet Perfecot - Not over yet, Lost Tribe - Gamemaster, Three Drives - Greece 2000 (Lost Tribe vs Miro vocal mix), but it's definitely a new sound from Matt. Hopefully, something big will be coming up just round the corner.

the story goes..

made a heap of remixes and productions..made a lot of money..decided in 2000 he was going to go on holiday with marcella with all the money he made...slowly got back into it in 2001...although his trance tastes had left him and he was starting to respect the hard trance and hard house genre (he told me he admired lisa lashes )..however in the last year he has found his trance roots and we can expect a heap more remixes and productions from him on the trance tip

As I said, an absolute mother f*cking tune. I have tried for many years to find another tune that is similiar, but with no result. I guess it's just that unique Matt Darey sound. Anyone know of a similiar sounding choon?

BTW, anybody seen Grooveline for sale on 12"? My local store had the promo, but it only had the original club mix, not the Matt Darey (the original is absolutely nothing like the Matt Darey remix).

I had a similar thread not long ago asking about Matt DArey and what happened but apparently he has got a couple new tracks called moody and u shine on, not bad stuff but i guess hes still abit rusty after a two year break. IMO he had the 1999 trance style down to an absolute fucken tee, NERVOUS blockster-grooveline (matt darey mix) was a top trancer and he had so many other remixes similar to that. It's a shame he went to hard house, but apparently hes coming back, and boy i seriously cant wait.

Anyone going to S.M. Hellas after GK this week.

P.S GK check out the channel V VJ comp, i got a mate in semi finals, and he has some darn good vinyls.

p.s..matts remix of grooveline was intended to be released as his own production but brandon block (blockster) gave him a time limit to complete a remix for him...as he hadnt finished 1 for him he gave him what is now known as the matt darey remix..hehe

p.p.s matt was out in oz last april...really nice guy..down to earth..and marcella was really nice too.

Stipsy i am the same dude had only missed a couple of games for last 5 years due 2 weddings and shit, but last year i missed out on the finals cause i broke my leg and was stuck in bed for 3 months. Hey where bouts u be in GK we should meet up, being a fellow wog and all lmao.

haha..i remember when i used to work in little collins st and that season where all our games started at 5...i would close up the shop at 4.50 without the boss knowing and drive like a maniac to the ground so i wouldnt miss more than 10-15 minutes..hehe

I havent heard the original mix, but the magik muzik mix is awful. At least the vocals are, needs a dub mix.

One of my all time favourite cd's has blockster grooveline on it. Psycho trance 2000. Released on moonshine mixed by D:Fuse. Brilliant cd. Have a listen!

Stipsy I've had this track for awhile now "Moloko - Time Is Now (Matt Darey Vocoder mix)" can you clarify for me if it's actually a matt darey mix or if it's incorrectly tagged. It certainly sounds like his style.

And btw guys if u don't have it it's a quite nice tune, very 1999/2000 feel. Yay!

Yeah I have that track too. It always reminded me the Greek word "Malakka" !!!!
