When he played here in Philly this year, only the first 45 min or so was that electro stuff that got popular somewhere along the way. After that, it was trance. I think people rag on Armin a little too loosely and don't give him enough credit. That's just my opinion though.

i'm not going but its worth a thread lol

Will probably consider checking out due to curiosity. I am expecting some trouse and electro stuff, yes, but maybe he will play more trance than usual. Its funny, ASOT (the show) tends to have trouse and electro during the first hour or so, while the second tends to have trance (other than the Trance Classic at the very end); or, at least, when I have been able to listen to it (like last week).

I'll also go out of curiosity and to see the production, but won't be expecting any quality trance, that's for sure!

Heard in an interview, it's the "biggest DJ booth ever built" - for what purpose is that really needed? Damnit, Armin.

Don't go, save your money!

noticed how nothing is pointing at a great trance journey. More like "come for the experience" who cares about quality music.

to everyone who says he plays some electro then mostly TRANCE :

I know there are alot of Armin haters out there but...

The last time Armin did an Armin only show in NYC was 2007 at the MCCarren Pool in Brooklyn. Every time since then its been short sets from Armin. I truly believe Armin is at his best when he does these longer sets.

Look at all his ASOT 600 opening sets for example. Unless someone told you it was Armin, you would have no clue it was him.

I will definitly be going to this. When Armin is on his game (with the longer sets)), there are very few DJs who can touch him.

I hope you're right because I agree, he's one of the best at marathon sets, however I've lost any faith I had left in him after the past 24 months of watching ASOT get shittier & shittier every week and seeing him play the same fuckin sets over & over again (with the same damn encore tracks too). As stated earlier, its more about an experience now as opposed to creating a journey of quality of music (which again, he is more than capable of). And I think that's the worst part of it all, we know for a fact how good he can really be but he chooses not to.

I also read somewhere that he reduced his Armin Only sets from 9 hours to 6 hours now? If that's true, then I won't be attending because we may get 1 - 1.5 hour of actual trance.

Correction. McCarren Pool event in Brooklyn in 2007 was NOT an Armin-Only show.

Armin Only is a huge production, requires a big venue, and it features lots of live-performances.

This is coming from a used to be big Armin fan, he is so garbage now. His sets are puke worthy. I can't believe you guys are even still posting about him or his shows. How could you even enjoy the crap he's gonna play there? Some live cheesy vocals with some trouse thrown in the mix.

Memories of 450 and his first Ezoo set and listening to his older marathons keep me hoping

Im thinking Barclays, or thats too big?

Posted by djnoonstar on Oct-21-2013 17:02:

since the topic of "real" trance is started, what do you guys think of Tiesto new trance track, seems a bit rushed to me.

If Tiesto's name wasn't tied to it, would you like it then?

and it also only goes from 9-2am. weak! short set for "armin only" and horrible venue choice

Posted by AY STAR on Oct-22-2013 23:32:

not really gonna discuss my feelings on armin since i know alot people on here still care about him
i will just say that this is a pretty crappy venue for this. all over the world he does it at places where there is a big dancefloor, not a place where you wanna sit down and "watch" him perform. i just dont like that whole idea behind it
