Gettogether?

Hey All

It seems that a couple of the VC TAs know each other, but many don't. Let's try and find an event that will have good music, that is reasonably priced and that will suit everyone to meet at.

I'm also interested in meeting the TAs to get together to go to local events & also to find out what places to go to, since I'm clueless at the moment about where is good to go here.

I should have met everyone at Tiesto last month but i'm too shy. Maybe next big event. Its just such a pain living on the Rock, taking the ferry and all How are you liking BC so far Widget?

YES, lets do that. we've been meaning to do this forever, never done it lol
i remember someone on the boards mention the drink on friday nights is good. also heard that blarney stone is nice. maybe we could just get together at a bar or something

asher, just so you know, stay AWAY from richards on richards on a saturday hehe unles top 40, r&b, hip hop and a wet t-shirt contest are your thing

Dunno, anywhere which is relatively easy to get to from my end of VC would be great. Just not this week (assignments like mad). A bar/pub/food type place sounds good too.

Richards?? no idea if I've been there or not. So far I've only been taken out to Gas Town, to the Purple Onion - the hiphop was really really bad, but the house was decent.

Otherwise I'm always looking out for a gettogether somewhere & then wondering off to a club which will have good music. Assuming that there are a couple of places which have decent trance?...

I've still got to try and organise with Patticus, since we're supposed to be fairly close to each other.

There's pretty much no good clubnights in the city that play good prog or especially good trance. I'm part of a night at Viva in richmond on Thursday that plays trance/prog, and of course the music is good (I play there afterall =P), and $2 highballs. Only problem is that it's in Richmond which I imagine isn't terribly close to most of you guys, that and there are rarely more than 60 people that show up (may be a good thing depending what kind of environment you guys were looking for).

If you want a good pub, the Irish Heather downtown (across from the Blarney Stone) has the best pints of Guiness and Kilkenny in the city, as well as some amazing food. If you want something cheaper, then why not the Pit Pub out at UBC?

The local meat market?
If I'm at a pub on campus I'll be at Koerners (the grad pub) and they've got a couple of good beers.

Pity about the club things. There isn't any club that even has a trance-type night / monthly event? Yet there'll be big trance DJs coming out to play here?

I'm also not too keen to gettogether during the week - would be a bit hectic timewise for me. Friday or Saturday night would be better.

Sothis, how long is the drive from Washington - 3 hours? I'm sure we can organise a Friday evening time where it would be good for all - even if it isn't a clubbing evening, but rather a pub or food place (or better yet somewhere with drinks & food).

Only on wednesday and friday nights =) It's more of a sportsbar during the day, they always have Champs League soccer on the bigscreens whenever the games are on.

Anyways, I'm down with whatever. I usually work either Friday or Saturday nights, aside from that I'm all free time as far as evenings are concerned.

hey i like koerners. anywhere with free pool is cool with me. ya widge P.O.'s got decent house, dj andre is a nice guy, and czech (canada's best breaks) is starting up his friday weekly too i think next week..

ooh but please no blarney stone, i didnt care for that place much at all.. cover, and rock-band crowd..

i live in bellingham.. its like, 10 minutes from the border

hence why i chat in here and am up there on a fairly regular basis.. heh. takes probably, 35-40 minutes to get to vancouver, as long as the border isnt ass.

Well I'm definitely out for all of this week & weekend with work, but next week looks reasonably clear at the moment.

I went to some pub a bit back just off of Granville I think which was free to get in and had a decent selection of beer. Can't remember the name though.

anyone in the down town to that want's to meet up i'm def in on that

Posted by Widget on Oct-06-2002 20:23:

If some of the Vancouver locals who know the areas are willing to provide ideas for a couple of decent places where we can go as a group have drinks and maybe a bit of food. It's probably the best place to start and I have no idea what's good near here.

there's always the urban well, or maybe a lounge downtown? lounges are cool cos you can get drinks/food and listen to some half-decent tunes...

the best night for me would be a thursday, after like 8. but weekends work too. how about you guys?

ROFL!

Not to mention the Blarney is only good when you're drunk, and they never have drink specials. Expensive and lame IMO =P

I pretty much work wed-sat nights, but Thursday I might be able to swing.
