All time favorite house tracks

While we're at it?

Put this together pretty quick, much more volatile than my techno list since I still discover a lot of seminal house I haven't heard before as opposed to techno where I feel like I have most of the important stuff mapped out.

Magic Mountain - Plains
Armand Van Helden - You Don't Know Me
The Timewriter - Back From Exile
Polychord - Mai Thai Night
Chez & Trent - Morning Factory
Blaze - Sacred Sex
Seduction - True Love (New York Mix)
San Soda - Hypocrisy
20:20 Vision - Future Remembrance
Dinky - Twelve To Four

Magic Mountain - Plains
I recommend everyone to listen to this one, pretty obscure but bloody amazing. Found it through an RA review a few years ago and never heard it mentioned anywhere else since.

Polychord - Mai Thai Night
And another one of the my obscure favorites, came across it on Trance.nu (lol) years ago in a clip of an old James Zabiela mix. Forgot it about for a long time until I saw that clip again and then figured out the track through an old tracklist on TA.

e: Removed embeds for less clutter.

is progressive house house? real question. and i am referring to the real progressive house ie guerrilla records early 90s and not progressive trance.

I'd say we keep prog out because otherwise this is going to be another progfest thread and we've had enough of these. System J actually made a thread just for real progressive house a few months ago.

Can I post deep house?

Yeah I agree with that. I dont need another 30 lists with for what you dream of. I will have to think about this one as i havent really listened to proper house music in ages.

as an aside, i saw you listed an armand van helden track. You cant really describe how big that guy used to be and how completely forgotten he has gotten BY ME ONLY APPARENTLY

edit: i have no idea who duck sauce is and apparently van helden is making smash hits as half of the team.

Huh? Van Helden is still churning out the chart smashes, these days as half of Duck Sauce. In the past five years he's had #1 hits in ten different countries.

wow, i need to pay more attention to the commercial stuff. i had no idea. i dont even know who duck sauce is to be honest. perhaps, i should say what happened to him from an artistic standpoint?

Absolutely nothing?

Posted by enydo on Nov-21-2013 20:47:

I feel really bad about the fact that I can't think of anything to put into any of these lists.

Posted by PivotTechno on Nov-21-2013 20:49:

Tip of a pretty ginormous iceberg:

M.Doc - It's Percussion
On The House - Pleasure Control
Joshua Heath - Casafiesta
Moodymann - I Can't Kick This Feeling When It Hits
Pp Bradock - Deep Burnt
Trax - Parametric Melody
Li'l Louis - Frequency
Kim English - Supernatural (B.O.P. Till U Drop Mix)
Romanthony - Bring U Up
Precious System - The Voice From Planet Love
Gwen McCrae - Keep The Fire Burning (Revenge Need II Edit)

You still enjoy his stuff or you never did? I honestly had no idea that big bad wolf was a van helden song but i think its awful. i think something like you dont know me is really good.

Pretty sure his point is that he's always been commercial. It's more that commercial music has changed. Good classic house could top charts in the 90's, now it can't anymore so he's doing what can (electro house)

TWILO THUNDER

that makes sense. i am having a dense morning, dont feel like the sharpest tool in the shed.

for enydo:

Posted by enydo on Nov-21-2013 21:09:

a little too full-on

Again: huh? Disclosure, anyone?

AVH has always made a lot of shit with the occasional catchy pop pleasure. This was the man who gave the world the intensely annoying fad of speed garage and Koochy, still one of the most obnoxiously awful house records ever made. And Big Bad Wolf is basically The Witchdoktor 2012.

Anyway, another cobbled together list, this time in loosely descending order:

Luomo - Synkro
Francois K - Time & Space
Global Communication - The Way
Madonna - Vogue
Sunscreem - Perfect Motion (Boys Own Mix)
Hysterix - Talk To Me (Sasha's Full Music Master)
Lil Yin Mo Yang - Reach
Jaydee - Plastic Dreams
X-Press 2 - Lazy
Hatiras - Spaced Invader

What's next? Drum & Bass? Breaks? IDM?

Ridiculously good track.

This, too: The Black Science Orchestra - New Jersey Deep

Posted by enydo on Nov-21-2013 22:02:

I managed to find a copy of Jaydee - Pastic Dreams in Richmond and I've played it to death since.

My list would probs include that, yeah.

Posted by Woony on Nov-21-2013 22:07:

You have a point, although I think current Disclosure is just straight pop music and this whole wave of popular UK house has much more in common with later MJ Cole than classic NY house.

Good call on Lil Mo Yang - Reach by the way. Heard it played out by this chick Kim Ann Foxman a while ago and found that track when someone posted it too Facebook afterwards. It even has proper rave sirens

First one I thought of. I love the snappy percussion in that one.

Posted by Scoops on Nov-21-2013 23:00:

...just pure house....and in any order...

1. David Morales - Needin U
2. X-Press 2 - Muzik Xpress
3. Soul Central - Strings of Life
4. Spiller - Groovejet
5. A Guy Called Gerald - Voodoo Ray
6. Danny Tenaglia - Elements
7. Oscar G. & Stryke ‎- Hypnotized
8. Armand Van Helden - The Funk Phenomena
9. Morjac - Stars
10. Miguel Migs - So Far

One of my favs of all time because of the sentimental value attached. I used to live on the beach and this track always reminds me of those great summer times

Another personal fav is
