Back to Back

I've seen al sorts of ads about parties that have couples of DJ's doing sets "back to back"
anyone here care to explain what "back to back" means????
thx in advance

That's when you have two DJ's spin at the same time.. first one does one (or a few) track(s), then the other, then back to the first one... That's about it...

Sasha & Digweed do it pretty good imo

Smiley DJ

thank you very much for clearing that up for me!!!!
I've done that a few times..... but didn't know it's called back to back

oh! and another thing!!!
there's a situation where 2 DJ's play at the same time but not on the same set of decks.......
like, each one has his own mixer and a pair of decks...... is that back to back as well?
or what??????

[EDIT]
I'm assuming that the back to back you explained to me is 2 DJ's on the same mixer and decks.........

the best back to back session in the history of clubbing was Scott Bond and Matt Hardwick - B2B - Gatecrasher (21-09-02)

Can also be a Dj battle.

ok. so what's a DJ battle??
I mean, ok. there are 2 DJs, 2 mixers, 2 pairs of decks, 2 everything...... what do the DJs do???? I mean, what makes it a "battle"? do they start slapping each other to distract their mixes and the one with the better mixes - wins??

j/k....... so what do they do?

sorry... I know those are stupid questions but I really would love some clear explainations about that stuff....

thx again........

when 2 djs spin at the same time...seperate decks and mixer is is called a 2x4...same can go for 3 djs on 6 tables...like the east coast boogie men 3x6...its gets really creative..

when 2 djs play with each other, it's known as a tag team or VS set

i've never heard anything called back to back though
that's a new term for me

and then the 2x4 with 2 of everything

I have'nt heard this set, care to just give me a hint on what in
it that was so good, i like both Scott Bond and Matt Hardwick so
Im a bit curious.

Sasha & Sander Kleinenberg did a really groovy back to back set
last new years eve, really good.
Anyways, I thought that back to back was when two DJs played one
track at a time therefor mixing into the other DJs track, but
is that something else ?

sure.. here are a few tracks they played

Marco V - Atlanta 020202
BT - Flaming June
Armin van Buuren - Yet Another Day
Gouryella - Ligaya
Chicane - Autumn Tactics (last song of the nite)
Svenson & gielen answer the question (svesnon & gielen remix)
Rank 1 airwave
Three drives carrera 2
Push universal nation (ferry corsten remix)
Exposure magic impulse
Grace - not Over Yet (Matt Darey remix)
Miss Shiva - Dreams
SolarStone -Seven Cities (AvB remix)
Oceanlab ft Justine Suissa - Sky Falls Down (Armin Mix)
Ayla - Ayla

and i also did a review of the whole night for ivibes. Here is the section on Matt Hardwick and Scott Bond if you'd care to read

quote:

I thought to myself as im sure others did too, how are Scott Bond & Matt Hardwick going to follow an act like that. Well i wont keep you in suspense. They did it. And with style to! They followed Pauls set with some rather hard trancers as to not ruin the flow, one of which i remember was Marco V - Atlanta 020202. There mixing was absoloutely perfect, and they started to play some uplifters that i had never heard before. They supplied the crowd with tunes that made us able to find the energy to keep dancing. I was amazed by there set. They combined new with old, hard with uplifting, and amazing epics such as BT - Flaming June. And for the second time that night, we got to hear Gouryella - Ligaya again :-) Other tracks played included Armin van Buuren - Yet Another Day, Three drives carrera 2, Miss Shiva - Dreams, Oceanlab ft Justine Suissa - Sky Falls Down (Armin Mix). Another track i'd like to point out in more detail is Svenson & gielen answer the question (svesnon & gielen remix). I was amazed how great this sounded with such high bass and such fast pitch. Crazy tune! As the set came to a finish i just didnt want it to end.. EVER! People were starting to leave now. But i think it was Hardwick who jumped on the microphone wanting more. They put Push universal nation (ferry corsten remix) on. I have not heard this track for so long, and i got goosebumps. Once again the set came to an end and i wanted to cry :-( But wait.. there was still more to come. They slapped down Planet Perfecto feat. Grace - Not Over Yet (Matt Darey Remix), a classic and memorable tune of 1999. By this time i had been awake for over 36 hours, but just couldn't stop dancing. I think it was at this point that Hardwick grabbed the microphone and shouted out: "f**k it we're going on till 9." haha :-) This was followed by Energy 52 - Cafe Del Mar (Marco V Remix), Rank 1 airwave, Ayla - Ayla, and to finish off this amazing night played Chicane - Autumn Tactics. They wanted to go on, and left the crowd literally shouting for "one more, one more, one more," but Gatecrasher pulled the plug on them. haha.

Hello! Back to back... or versus...

I'm sure everyone's heard this...

Armand Van Helden Vs. Fatboy Slim essential mix from 1998?...

Its a bit housy, and the recording I had sucked crap, but it was baaaaad assss.

what about the warp brothers... they do that every set, two of em, on one set of decks... thats a site to see too, nothing like a couple of great big bulletproof vest wearing germans spinning hard trance...
