Smiley DJ Armin's break out year?

Is this Armin's break out year? With ASOT blowing way up, transparance, oceanlab and solar stone remixes which are both equally great, will this be the year that Armin breaks into the top 5 elite he already is on many of our list but im talking about the Dj top 100 poll. Last year he was number 24 i think it will be a lil different this year in a positive way. What do you think?

I think he began to break out last year, but I've been surprised at people saying he's an emerging artist, for me he's always been one of the leaders of the scene with quality Productions/Remixes. I think his mix of rapture signalled that he was really ready to make a push for it,a dn the Gatecrasher residency has certainly helped. I've seen him 5 times this year, and he gets better every time. I should certianly hope he's in the top 10 this year, if not certainly around that mark

I totally agree with u there Az and have said it for a long time, since his remix of Rapture, Armin has been right at the forefront.
He has always been one of the best, just take 'Blue Fear' for an example, a great track ! but yes since rapture He has been right up there in the top 5 for me (i voted him #2 in the DJ Mag poll btw)
I just hope that He does not begin to fade too quickly or get stuck in the same sound like Tiesto seems to have done over the last year, althou i do really like Tiesto's 'Obsession' with some cool remixes of it about.
The same could be said of Paul Van Dyk, his sound was unique and any PvD production / remix was sheer quality but after his remixes of Jam & Spoon's Be Angeled, PvD to me has lost his edge with the occasional spark of brilliance from him now and then but nothing compared to how he was.

Keep it up Armin

Talking

armin has always been consistent but it seems like he has turned it up a notch and is making the push to have a excellent year.

Same here, before transparance i didnt think Armin was nething big. I thought he was overrated. Then I heard transparance and it totally blew me away, and then i started listening to ASOT and man each week he finds some song that blows me away. I mean Armin is jus off the hook this year for lack of a better term.

i love armin...he's a great dj and producer, one of the few trance dj's i really like, but he won't get into the top 5...definately not this year. Sasha, PvD, Digweed and Oakie are gonna be in the top 5, with one other guy...probably Dave Seaman.

Ya, i think armin was always underated as a producer.I remember alibi - eternity (him and his bushy hair ), that was with tiesto of course but theres a touch of armin. And then exhale, ferry was always the one getting credit even though armin was in it.

I can't believe no one mentioned this:

His first artist album is due out THIS FALL! Featuring nearly all never before heard songs (except for 'Yet Another Day', and possibly 'Sunburn').

i totally agree with you there neo. armin's really been givin' the usual big name remixers a run for their money. with him spinning at more clubs outside of europe as well, he's been gaining a lot of respect and recognition.

all his remixes this year have been fairly solid and very dj friendly, with his upcoming new album, that should be the clincher right there that puts him above some of the usual djs that are up there on the list.

He deserves it but he won't be in Top 5, he might make top 10.

I was never a big Armin fan until this year..................I though his style is a little progressive back in the days!!

His remixes and tracklist is getting better and better...........his mixing skills is freakin flawless!!!

Armin is the No 1 DJ for me ATM!!!

Well since I got addicted last year I don't really know what 99 and 00 were like for him as a Dj. I've just got an old set from his back in 99 and I loved it(his Club Eau set everyone talks about)I liked his productions a lot though from those years though. This year I really think he's on top IMO His sets are tight and his productions/remix
s are amazing. It's a shame i work thursday's or else I would tune into ASOT every week. Just can't wait to see him live
