Can't wait for this track, Jon the Dentist certainly has a knack for creating really good club tunes, and I'm sure this will be no exception

holy shit...just heard this track and it is totally awesome. i didn't realize jon had this potential for producing!\

demons, your a fucking tool: he wasn't ripping the push name off

Posted by Sand Leaper on Oct-25-2002 07:51:

Just cos someone names his remix for Push-something doesn't mean he's ripping off MIKE!It's not like MIKE's got the copyright to use the word "push" in a music context...duh!

Posted by demons on Oct-25-2002 10:13:

Of course mike has copyright on the word Push when associated with music you clever f*cks. otherwise i could use the letters PVD infront of a for an angel soundalike 'remix' (PVD means pizza van delivery...honest guv!). its just someone cashing in on the ambiguity of whether it really is a push mix (which it isnt). It even f*cking tries to sound like one.

Once you realise how much a big name on a record (even if it is subtly done so its made into a describing word) adds to sales of a track then you can understand what 'cashing in' on the name means.

i also know that the guy behind the track wanted it to sound like a push tune in the first place because he always says he is a massive fan. i think he just took a real cheeky chance that he could make some money through sounding like Push and to top it off....amazingly coincidently used the oh so innocent word 'push' at the start of the remix title (so it even has to have a capital letter coz its at the start of a sentence...verrrry clever)

There is also another case about where someone has been using a supposed 'push remix' on their track (in fact armin played it last night) when in fact it is not a push remix...it is solar factor - no return original...thats it!!! even though mike made the tune it is definitely not a Push remix. they have just added that to the track to gain some extra demand for the track...'ooooo...solar factor - no return with a push remix...got to buy it!'

believe me...people will cash in where they can on anything that is selling and successful in todays music market and can you argue that anything with Push's name associated isnt just snapped up straight away or makes it look a hell of a lot more attractive.

you might disagree but its all about protecting the integrity of a name which you know means a lot to M.I.K.E....

Posted by chris_norris on Oct-25-2002 10:23:

How come all these people didn't coming flooding to cash in on
Novacane VS. No-One Driving - Playa Sol (Push harder Remix) then? or Novancane - Mercury (The Runner) (Push Harder Remix)? I don't think he's done it for the publicity at all, it's just an alias. Oh and if anyone's gagging to get this on vinyl, they mite have some copies over at http://www.dotvinyl.com

Posted by demons on Oct-25-2002 10:37:

because they are all shite tunes...hahahahaha thats why!

cheers for letting me know about the other tracks mate...didnt know he was making a habit of it.

of course he hasnt done it for the publicity u nob

Posted by chris_norris on Oct-25-2002 10:54:

I dint mean publicity i meant money making or watever it was that you wer goin on about. So are you saying that every artist that has a similar name to another artist is cashing in?

Posted by demons on Oct-25-2002 11:12:

jon the dentist has named his own remixes of the tunes (they are not a separate artist) 'push harder' remixes and they attempt to sound like push productions but....'harder'.

id say its like wearing fake designer clothing. its not the real thing...just a cheap imitation

Posted by Stanza on Nov-23-2002 17:25:

It's good to see Jon the Dentist back in action. Where the hell's he been all these years(production wise)?

Posted by Ste on Nov-23-2002 19:42:

i use to like the push harder mix but it rather quickly gpot tiresome

Posted by aloep on Nov-23-2002 19:46:

In my opinion the Push Harder Mix (the only mix I've heard) is one one of the best tunes of the second half of the year. It sounds a little like a Push production but has more "energy" to it if you see what I mean. Kinda like the sound of K90 meeting Push, I like it a lot.
