You know when this forum's dead when
No one even starts a thread to bitch about the Igloofest lineup
Posted by ostrich on Dec-05-2013 16:27:
it's a solid line up! no reason to bitch imo

I know, I think so too, but I figured that never stopped this place before
Posted by Adam420 on Dec-05-2013 21:25:
More like no one started a thread about it period!

What is there to butch about?
One of the more solid lineups they've ever put out!

haha this forum has gone from dicks bitching at noobs to dicks not beeing able to bitch at anything. This just shows how much of a circle jerk this place was for all these years. I mean how the fuck did this forum manage to not be alive right now with the electronic scene grown so big and the use of social media grown even bigger.
I assume it was the ones that actually knew a lot about what they were talking about but were to fucking smug about it to have an informative discussion with the noobs that were showing up once in a while.

Definitely going to see Levon Vincent & Scuba. Matthew Dear & Ame is another night I'll want to check out. Overall, Igloofest can't fail. Good bookings, winning formula.. I wonder how much bigger this festival will get.

the only dicks bitching at noobs was Jay lol
he's to blame for the death of MTLTA
the problem on MTLT is also BECAUSE of social media, bigger social media = less forum needs, ppl can have discussions on their walls about djs/songs/etc without needing to go to a different website.
Dont forget that TA has always been an elitist forum with a harsh learning curve. Sure some noobs might have ran away because they couldnt handle it but at the end of the day the ones who wanted to stay stayed.
I was a completely fucking immature idiot when I first came on TA and I got flamed hardcore until I was accepted. Some cant handle that I guesss....
Just remember a lot of us from TA know our dance music (I wont dare say EDM because of what EDM means nowadays) better than the general public. It's not to say I condone the rude comment towards noobs but we werent ALL trolls here. There were a few but most of us were open minded, cool, down to earth people.
I met ppl on this forum that I'm still super close with today. Back in the day there was countless meet ups with big DJs, we'd all meet at huge events, discuss, say hi at other clubs, I literally built a social circle of TA people.
Unfortunately Swamper just doesnt care anymore about TA. I offered to take over mod duty and help get the forum going and Malek couldnt even get a response from Swamper. And when I wrote him I didnt get a response either.
So it's partly Swamper fault, the trolls fault, huge part to blame on social media (fb specifically).

I just put it down the the fact that in the last couple of years, there have been very few new members. Also, a large portion of MTLTA peeps are DJs themselves, and like, DJs can't have their own opinions, heh. Look at the ridiculous shit Francis wrote me in that Circus Maximus thread. Like, who the fuck needs that?

+1
And I think that applied to the scene in general everybody started loving dance / edm but didnt really understand it and the most obvious thing or easiest thing to understand or misunderstand from it was the drop. Instead of focusing on the story the construction of the song or the set the long hours dancing the vibe etc all they got from it was the drop.
I remember my first year in University I would be playing some Sasha Some Armin some PVD Underworld etc.. And everybody would give me shit for it, they couldnt even handle Bob Sinclar (gimme a break im not has oldschool has you guys I got into the scene in 2005, the begining of the end in my opinion but you guys probably have a better idea), The second year I was renting a house and nobody could stand that type of music... they just didnt get it or took the time to get it. Its not untill I started putting stuff like the reward is cheese or wtf chicken or things that were quick and uncomplicated with a very obvious drop and melody. And all of a sudden around campus Daft Punk alive would be playing Everybody was getting on the Deadmau5 train Pryda was starting to get played around. I remember thinking o shit the scene is growing and then all of a sudden Tim Berg turned into Avicii, Dubstep came along and Sweedish house just put the nail in the coffin and just turned a dance set into a top 40 Aux rouge.
New England didnt even make it to long nights of pacing yourself and going through different stages throughout the night and letting themselfs be transported by the dj.
They went from listening to Johny Cash, O.A.R. and singing Sweet Caroline, by the fire shooting handguns to raging with their cock out stuffing ''molly'' down their throat for an hour with pretty lights and Zeds Dead and then passing out.

I oversimplified it grossly but still thats what it looked like from my perspective.
Posted by Marcus007 on Dec-14-2013 00:58:
even steve angello, who i despise, used to make good music (good refs with sinclar, early deadmau, prydz, etc)
remember woz not woz? straight up DISCO house, real house music, made from the same guy who did SAVE THE WORLD and lets not forget where prydz started (callll on meeeeee)

I want to be on record here, and confirm that I did want to transfer modship to Max more than a few times but was denied by Swamper... I don't know what to do literally.
EDM is not underground anymore, everyone talks about it everywhere, this forum lost its original purpose.
